Mission Accomplished, Air Ride Install Complete.
finalized the last portion of my air ride install last night. it's not laying frame, but it's where I wanted it. can't say how much this board and it's members helped me out with it..... but everyone knows that this forum has the most knowledgable, and friendliest members on the net.
I know how much you guys are pic hounds, so.......... oh and forgive the knocked-out-tooth look without the front bumper. it's out for a nice fresh coat of white powdercoat. goin' back to the basics. http://i204.photobucket.com/albums/b...t/100_3930.jpg http://i204.photobucket.com/albums/b...t/100_3929.jpg http://i204.photobucket.com/albums/b...t/100_3933.jpg http://i204.photobucket.com/albums/b...t/100_3931.jpg http://i204.photobucket.com/albums/b...t/100_3932.jpg |
Re: Mission Accomplished, Air Ride Install Complete.
It looks terrific....thats how i would like to see mine as I have no interest in cutting it all up....
|
Re: Mission Accomplished, Air Ride Install Complete.
I agree! Makes me wanna go buy a stepside now.... guess I gotta finish the one I'm (not) working on first!
|
Re: Mission Accomplished, Air Ride Install Complete.
Looks killer! Is this at rest or ride height? Interested in ride height pic if this is at rest.
|
Re: Mission Accomplished, Air Ride Install Complete.
Looks great....the height I want mine when it's completed.
|
Re: Mission Accomplished, Air Ride Install Complete.
Steve, these views are with the bags completely aired out. ride height is 2.5" higher in the front and 2" higher in the back. with the truck at that height, I am not bottoming out or rubbing. kind of glad I maintained the factory rake, with the rear being 1.5-2" higher than the front.
I need to get a pic of it fully aired up too. talk about a 4x4!! |
Re: Mission Accomplished, Air Ride Install Complete.
That looks good Doug, Bring it out to Blue Springs next Sat. so I can see it in person.
|

Looks good Doug! I just went through and read the WHOLE build thread, you do nice, clean work. Just wiating to see some pics at ride height so I know about how low mine will sit... I'm going static - with coilovers!:metal:

Re: Mission Accomplished, Air Ride Install Complete.
Looks stellar! I was going to give you a heads up to tell you your front bumper fell off but then I read your post. Darn pictures are always more fun than reading! Nice job!

|
Re: Mission Accomplished, Air Ride Install Complete.
So,... is everything done?
I thought you had a little more work to do up front? Or is that done? What did you ever do about guages? |
Re: Mission Accomplished, Air Ride Install Complete.
Keith,
I'm going to eventually run gauges for a 4 corners, but I'll probably wait on that. right now, the raising of the bed floor has been put to the top of the list. the tubular control arms were a snap to install. in all, those brought the front down close to 3 full inches! now I'm having visions of a weld in super notch or a Porterbilt rear assembly. yeah I know, it doesn't end! |
Re: Mission Accomplished, Air Ride Install Complete.
Sweet.
Now you gotta post an underhood shot to show off those arms. |
Re: Mission Accomplished, Air Ride Install Complete.
still have the inner fenders in, you won't be seeing much! and I never thought to take pics when I was installing them.
|
Re: Mission Accomplished, Air Ride Install Complete.

Re: Mission Accomplished, Air Ride Install Complete.
Great job, the truck looks awsome!! Joseph
|
Re: Mission Accomplished, Air Ride Install Complete.
I usually dont care for lowered trucks.......... but that makes me want to go bag my truck!! nice work!!
|
Re: Mission Accomplished, Air Ride Install Complete.
Looks Great Doug...its really come a long way!
|
Re: Mission Accomplished, Air Ride Install Complete.
With those rallye wheels that truck is SWEET. Good Job.
|
Re: Mission Accomplished, Air Ride Install Complete.
FAV truck on the board!
|
Re: Mission Accomplished, Air Ride Install Complete.
What kind of rear notch did you use? Any pic of that?
|
Re: Mission Accomplished, Air Ride Install Complete.
Looking great Doug. Your build thread is an awesome reference for bagging one of these trucks.
|
Re: Mission Accomplished, Air Ride Install Complete.
Looks GREAT - the wheels are awesome!
|
Re: Mission Accomplished, Air Ride Install Complete.
I really like the look of this truck. If you pumped up the bags to full height you would never guess it was bagged with how everything looks stock. I'm not a big fan of whitewalls, but I think in this case they would look great with the white bumper and the rest of the overall look of the truck.
|
Re: Mission Accomplished, Air Ride Install Complete.
thanks gang for the kind words! it's in no way as nice as most stepside on here, just an old beater that's fun to wrench on.
72gmcshorty, there should be a decent pic of my "c" notch on my build thread. I'm running a CPP bolt-in notch right now. maybe down the road I'll go to a deeper notch, but....... I'm happy with the stance right now. jacfourteen, I'll get a pic of the truck tonight with the bags fully aired. remember, no laughing!!! :) |
Re: Mission Accomplished, Air Ride Install Complete.
Wow Doug, that thing turned out better than I imagined... awesome work and attention to detail.
Can't wait to see the floor finished. :D Going to KS G-G's again this year right? We'll be there, just at a higher altitude than you and the others. |
Re: Mission Accomplished, Air Ride Install Complete.
thats a nice truck man, looks really good that way the older i get (just 28) the more i appreciate the look of a so called "used" truck over the others yours is sweet;)

Re: Mission Accomplished, Air Ride Install Complete.
was able to get a couple of aired out, ride, and fully aired up height. sorry for the bad pics, it was getting late and a storm was rolling in.
fully aired up. talk about ground clearance! http://i204.photobucket.com/albums/b...t/100_3947.jpg ride height. 2" up in the front, 2.5" in the back. no bottoming out, corners great. http://i204.photobucket.com/albums/b...t/100_3946.jpg aired completely out. http://i204.photobucket.com/albums/b...t/100_3948.jpg |
Re: Mission Accomplished, Air Ride Install Complete.
Man that looks good!
Air'd up looks to be close to stock height, and the ride height will keep it looking cool while going down the highway. Awesome work Doug! |
Re: Mission Accomplished, Air Ride Install Complete.
looks great! did you use Ridetech's leveling system?
