Re: project " Blue-Ray"
Awesome, cant wait to see how this turns out.
|
Re: project " Blue-Ray"
got the trans cleaned/painted....there looked to be a spot at the front of the pan where something punchured it, and someone put a plastic cap in there...so, what i did was drilled that puncher hole to .5" and welded a nut on the inside of the pan, and installed a bolt there, thus making draining the trans fluid possible, without having to remoce the pan....thats the bolt you see in the trans pan near the front...

Re: project " Blue-Ray"
bit more progress...got the motor mount adaptor brackets moddifed, and the clam shells mounted to them...also joined the engine and trans together, for a trial fit....the trans x-member had to be moved back about 1" to get the motor to fit where i needed it to be....then pulled the moddifed plates/clam shells out blasted them and painted them....

Re: project " Blue-Ray"
i know the crank pulley needs to be cleaned/painted, it'll get attention soon....
also test fitted the exhaust manifolds, they clear on the driver side. the pass. side needed a small notch on the frame, but nothing major...they fit neatly and should'nt be a problem to retro fit to existing exhaust....also here is some pics of how well the oil pan and trans pan fit this frame... http://i25.photobucket.com/albums/c8...y/P6080011.jpg http://i25.photobucket.com/albums/c8...y/P6080010.jpg http://i25.photobucket.com/albums/c8...y/P6080012.jpg http://i25.photobucket.com/albums/c8...y/P6080009.jpg |

Good work man. At this rate you'll have this one done before mine!
|
Re: project " Blue-Ray"
I'm in. Don might actually get more work done if he weren't running a certain Chevy CC up and down the OK tollroads...;)
|
Re: project " Blue-Ray"
here are a few pics of the final fitment of the eng/trans....got everything modified to fit as i want and painted too...after that, the eng/trans came out so i could give attention to the firewall. got the firewall stripped and starting removing the paint, and some black textured stuff, that was SUPER HARD to remove (almost like tar)...also there are a few misc holes that are getting filled, but we're going back with the factory a/c & heat unit...

Re: project " Blue-Ray"
Damn thats alot of wires. I'm glad I paid someone to make me a standalone harness. That would have me scatterbrained for weeks! Nice work.
|
Re: project " Blue-Ray"

Re: project " Blue-Ray"

|
Re: project " Blue-Ray"
i would not mind make that a stand alone harness that great work i love working on wiring but i hate rust wish someone could do the rust one mine lol

Re: project " Blue-Ray"
little bit more progress to report....got the guages in, they are autometer sport comp....im working on making a backing plate to attach to the factory bezel, more on this later...drilled and tapped some bosses on the block, so i could add adels, to keep the wiring neat, and tucked in... also made a mounting plate for the ECM/TCM, so i could get started terminating the wires..the TCM mounting holes were to big for 10-32 screw, so i reamed the holes, and added proper bushing..the ECM already had proper hole size to tap to a 10-32, so i taped them, so i could mount everything...the wires that are off to the side (not terminated) will be integrated into the factory harness with OE weatherpack connectors, so it will be a simple 'plug in' deal.. and also make eng/trans removal easy (should you need to)...

Re: project " Blue-Ray"
Are you running the pcm behind the engine like you have on other builds? I like the mounting plate too!
|
Re: project " Blue-Ray"
yes, that plate will mount to the firewall.. it still needs to be trimed, preped, and painted tho

Re: project " Blue-Ray"
got a bit more progress....got the autometer guages in, and started modding the existing cluster so they'll fit...basically i cut out the backside of the cluster and formed a peice of sheetmetal for the guages to mount to...i re-used the raised factory clear plastic peice, so the guages that needed to be raised, would be...then once everything was fitted in place i dissaembled everything and painted the sheetmetal, and started wiring them up...i used a weatherpack connector so everything is modular and can be removed/installed easily... the non-terminated wires that go up, are for the MIL light, and high beams, and those will be installed in the bezal (with weatherpack connectors as well.)
http://i25.photobucket.com/albums/c8...y/P7010045.jpg http://i25.photobucket.com/albums/c8...y/P7010044.jpg http://i25.photobucket.com/albums/c8...y/P7240066.jpg http://i25.photobucket.com/albums/c8...y/P7240067.jpg http://i25.photobucket.com/albums/c8...y/P7240069.jpg http://i25.photobucket.com/albums/c8...y/P7240064.jpg http://i25.photobucket.com/albums/c8...y/P7240070.jpg http://i25.photobucket.com/albums/c8...y/P7240071.jpg http://i25.photobucket.com/albums/c8...y/P7240072.jpg http://i25.photobucket.com/albums/c8...y/P7240073.jpg http://i25.photobucket.com/albums/c8...y/P7250074.jpg http://i25.photobucket.com/albums/c8...y/P7250075.jpg http://i25.photobucket.com/albums/c8...y/P7250076.jpg |
Re: project " Blue-Ray"
also got the firewall finished, filled all the un-used holes, cleaned all the old seam sealer outta the seam, then applied a 'nice' (unlike factory glob job) bead of seam sealer on the seam...got the paint matched to the glovebox, and painted/cleared the firewall....the firewall is a basecoat/clearcoat, while the factory was a single stage...needless to say the firewall looks nice and shiney compaired to the rest of the truck, but you get an idea of what the final color will look like...
http://i25.photobucket.com/albums/c8...y/P7250077.jpg http://i25.photobucket.com/albums/c8...y/P7250078.jpg http://i25.photobucket.com/albums/c8...y/P7250079.jpg |
Re: project " Blue-Ray"

|
Re: project " Blue-Ray"
