Project 91 Bsquared
4 Attachment(s)
I picked up this 1991 Suburban with a fuel injected 350 backed by a 700R4. It 2wd automatic with all 3rows of seats. This is my second Burb I've owned in the past 2 years so its only fitting that since my lastname starts with letter B it goes with my new Square Body Burb.
I saw it for sale a few weeks on fathers day and stopped by to talk to the owner. He's had it for the past 4yrs and rarely drove it. I had no intention at that time of buying it but a week later sold my dually and to my luck went back and bought this burb today. |

The interior is immaculate like never had any passengers. Power windows locks and even the hard to find power mirrors. It has a cool long wooden center console and an ovehead console. Came with an alpine cd player in the dash sound pretty good for now. All 3 rows of blue cloth seat are very cushy without any wear. The interior is accented with woodgrain dash bezels.

No overdrive? That seems kinda strange. Did the PO swap in the th350? |
Re: Project 91 Bsquared

The 350tbi/700R4 needs some tlc under the hood, so I spent half the day changing oil, got a new air filter, chased down a few wires & washed it. I need to find some headers and replace the muffler, so if anyone has any layin around let me know. Tomorrow I plan to pull both bumpers and replace with new white painted bumpers also paint the power mirrors and the grill white. I need new matching tires and I'm thinking about painting the rally rims a dark grey or try to color match dark blue from the graphic stripes on the body. future plans are to lower it over grey or black boss 338's or coy c5. It came with an alpine cd player which sounded good today while I was working on Bsquare!!!!

Re: Project 91 Bsquared
If you were local I'd make you a good deal on a set of rallies with matching tires, they got some life left in them. I don't see you traveling 4 hours though for it. My burb has a very worn set of headers on it, but I'm thinking I'll give them a fresh coat of ceramic and just use them myself.
I've ended up with way more rally wheels then I intended. Still can't figure out how I did that. |
Re: Project 91 Bsquared
At least keep the rear the same if possible. |

Rdm1208 setup: The wheels are 20 x 8.5 front and 20x9.5 rear, think it is a standard offset and no ther choices. I had to use a 1.25" wheel spacer on the rear to get the wheels out far enough. The front i had to use a .5" spacer with special lugnuts that went down inside the wheel a little. Maybe not special but was hard to find around here. I am not sure if my front wheels were the older hub style but either way it worked good. The tires are 245/40/20 front and 275/40/20 rear. The front will rub a little on BIG bumps but not to bad. I bought the wheels from a local vendor, the cost was $1300 out the door, complete package.

I painted the wheels white today. Also started on the bumper removal then it started to rain. I also found the original owner manuals.
Happy 4th of July guys!!! |
Re: Project 91 Bsquared
very cool find!
wheels look good in white. How is the hunt for rallies going? |
Re: Project 91 Bsquared
The burb came with 2extra rallies to replace the drivers side rims. But I need matching tires .
|
Re: Project 91 Bsquared
Oh, gotcha
I thought you were looking for rally wheels also |
Re: Project 91 Bsquared
My bad bro but thanks for the hook up on CL I will call him tomorrow and maybe score another set of rallies with wheels for less then the price of tires. ;)
I do need to figure out the codes and also why the vent doesn't work at all. No heat or AC. |
Re: Project 91 Bsquared
Great new project! Awesome interior!
I've got another rally wheel for you, free if you come in the suburban to pick it up! Blake |
Re: Project 91 Bsquared
Cool! Thanks man. I'm going to get it license tagged tomorrow then I will be legally driveable.
|
Re: Project 91 Bsquared
When I got headers for my 87, I went with the Edelbrock TES units.
They were reasonably priced and super easy to install with the existing system . . . once you got passed all the rusty manifold bolts and such. Anyway, it looks great so far. I love the center console, I would love to find one of those for mine. |
Re: Project 91 Bsquared
Nice score ! cant wait to see the progress!

You talkin about these new rallys? :) 235/70R15
I love how the middle seat folds down completely flat, Sebastian just relaxin in the 3rd row. ;) |
Re: Project 91 Bsquared
Cool wheels!!!
|
Re: Project 91 Bsquared
Cool project, I am glad to see that your back in the suburban game. Those rallys look good, and the third row fold flat seat in these old 'burbs is awesome, tons of space!
|
Re: Project 91 Bsquared
Nice burb score! That interior is really clean. Keep up the good work!

I got my rally wheels on and went for a little stroll.
|
Re: Project 91 Bsquared
man!
that thing looks 100% better with the wheels!! when are you swapping bumpers? And bringing me the front one ;) Oh and I just noticed...you have way too much oil pressure and you need to get some gas  |
Re: Project 91 Bsquared
:haha:
Looks good Michael :metal: |
Re: Project 91 Bsquared
funky looking with the roll pan in the front... these things look better with the bumpers
|
Re: Project 91 Bsquared

I agree with you, it looks weird becuz he put a rear roll pan on the front. He owns a tire shop and his friend owns a bondo shop.
But comparinf my stock suburban to his convinced me to take the luggage rack and rear spoiler off the top of mine. Hopefully the rain will hold off this weekend so I can change out my front and rear bumpers. Replace them with new white ones without the black strip. And paint my grill white. I need to work on tuning the engine. Its very sluggish and won't go faster then 55mph!!! |
Re: Project 91 Bsquared
Check the cat, it may be plugged making it sluggish..
|
Re: Project 91 Bsquared
I've never seen or heard of one of the old pellet filled cats plugging up.
One sure sign of a badly plugged cat is it will get worse and worse in a matter of miles. As it gets hotter it seems to become more restrictive. Let it cool and it starts the process over. I'd start with a fuel filter, most people rarely change them. |
Re: Project 91 Bsquared
Too much oil pressure like Joe said ;)
Maybe a tune up on that bad boy..? |
Re: Project 91 Bsquared

I did the oil and air filter change last weekend. Made no difference in performance at all. So I know I've got exhaust leak up front and a holy muffler but a new fuel filter might be the answer. I seriously had the pedal all the way to the floor and could barely get up to 55mph.
On a good note the new rallies 235/70's feel good on the road. And I think I've got all the old mixed matched rallies sold. |
