Wasn't in a junk-yard, but was on the side of the road left for dead,... with a blown engine.

Re: sad things you see in the junk yard

The only reason they make it to the junkyard here in PA is rust. Otherwise people just keep them on the road forever. My last truck was a 91 Subaurban, it ran and drove perfect with 250,000 miles. But every panel had huge rot holes and the body was coming off the frame. So I finally had to scrap it.

Same situation in MD. Many of the yards aren't keeping the older stuff like they used to...I know one of them doens't let the late model stuff set long before the pull the money making parts and crush the rest...I guess it's the nature of the business if it sits and isn't making money crush it and put a new one in it's spot, repeat as needed or space becomes limited.

Check out the prices on the caps alone.... aftermarket ones are pricey... and actual G.M. caps. are outragous

not counting the cost of the rims themselves.... so yeah, they can be popular to square owners,.. IMO even pre 73 trucks look good with em too

if you can get em for cheap.. grab em clean em up and sell em.. prolly make you a couple bucks

They look good on the older trucks but not available when those trucks were built. 67-70 trucks had 6 bolt pattern and they also look good with ralleys, except you need the ralleys from mid to late 70's up to 87 4x4 ralleys, look the same as the 5 lug but were 6 lug like the older trucks!

god somebody just bring one of them short beds to me, I'll keep her and fix her up good and right. I'd love to have one just can't afford one around here. I'd take a long bed and then turn it into a short bed if it was free and saving one from the scrap heap.

Here is my sad pic. It's an 85. Only 500 made that year. I tried to buy the cab and bed for 3 weeks, with no luck. It was like my money wasn't worth the little bit of help I needed from them? Anyway......the truck was crushed and is gone forever! Oh, I picked up another 85 about a year later in much better shape. Look for a build thread on it soon :) http://i6.photobucket.com/albums/y23...603091231a.jpg http://i6.photobucket.com/albums/y23...0603091230.jpg

Actually, I got real lucky with the rally's I came up on... The junk-yard here sold me 4 rims with the caps for $100.

'course they looked like they were dipped in silt, and dirt for 50 years. Don't have any pics.....

but what wonders a lil elbow grease,.. polish and spray-can paint will do..;)

It had 10" deep 'vette rally's on it when i got the truck from my dad.. but needed tires,.. and couldn't afford the new tires for those rims...

BTW.. yes they do look good on newer trucks as well.... Square Style never dies!!!
