I need an UN-BIASED opinion.

OK, I know I am on a CHEVY forum, but I really need an UN-BIASED opinion.....please.
I have a 1977 Ford F250 Ranger XLT 460,C6,2wd,working A/C. The truck is in 'decent' shape-by no means perfect-but no rust and runs GREAT(14 mpg, also have to smog). I have 2 guys that want to trade me different trucks; First one is a 1975 GMC 3/4t,2wd,350,3 on the tree-base model-no power steering,no A/C. Has rust on the hood, and in the doors, and a dent in the roof like someone sat on it...NO SMOG. Second is a 1978 Chevy 1t crewcab single rear wheel,2wd,454,TH400,no A/C. Engine is partially torn down for timing chain replacement and never finished.....have to smog. What would YOU do? 1977 F250: |

Re: I need an UN-BIASED opinion.
keep what you got. I wouldnt concider giving a relatively rust free truck for a rusty one. AND I would trade a "torn down" non running truck for a running truck, the trades just doesnt sound like you will be getting the best of the trade.
Is there any incentive to trade? Dad had a truck like that or ? |
Re: I need an UN-BIASED opinion.
Keep the Ford ;)

Re: I need an UN-BIASED opinion.
As far as condition goes it looks like not much of a fair trade with either deal. I'm a sucker for crewcab longbeds though. But it seems like it could use a lot of tlc to get up to par with your f250 (which is very nice btw)
For me I'd be torn between the ford and crew cab since you'd actually be "upgrading" in a way if you like crews. But I don't think it's even a question for the gmc. It's kind of like you are trading a nice version of a truck for a worse version of the same truck. Unless you do have some incentive for it such as your dad had one Posted via Mobile Device |
Re: I need an UN-BIASED opinion.
Keep the Ford! Easy choice in my book.

Re: I need an UN-BIASED opinion.
keep your truck

Re: I need an UN-BIASED opinion.
I'm sorry ,I would rather push a chevy than drtive a ford.
|
Re: I need an UN-BIASED opinion.
I think this is the kind of opinions I needed to here. There are no incentives at all. I think the GMC is the 'NO SMOG' thinking, and the crewcab is , well just that 'CREWCAB' thinking!lol

Re: I need an UN-BIASED opinion.
Thanks guys, that's what I needed. Keeping the Ford...for now.
|
Re: I need an UN-BIASED opinion.
You'll almost never here me say this, but keep the Ford... until someone with a Chevy in that same condition offers you a 'trade'. :)
|
Re: I need an UN-BIASED opinion.
Yeah.. keep the Ford.. My Gramps had a Ford just like the one you have... with a 460... A/C. the works...(Camper Special) That was one tough ass truck he used to pull his fifth-wheel... must say ;)

Re: I need an UN-BIASED opinion.
Good decision. That Ford is too nice to trade for either of those trucks.

Re: I need an UN-BIASED opinion.
I'd also keep the Ford. Other than the squarebody Chevy, those late '60s Fords are my favorites.

Re: I need an UN-BIASED opinion.

Re: I need an UN-BIASED opinion.
Agree with all the others on keeping the Ford.

THANKS everyone..........my wife also thanks you! I will keep lookin....
|
Re: I need an UN-BIASED opinion.
Glad you are going to keep on looking. your truck is in a completely different ball park than those other trucks.
|
Re: I need an UN-BIASED opinion.
Im far from a ford enthusiast but trading your truck for either of the other two is a terrible deal imo. Keep the ford....never thought id say those words lol.

Re: I need an UN-BIASED opinion.
ford

Re: I need an UN-BIASED opinion.
Hi Lance.. Long time no connect!! Keep the Ford.. By the way I'm coming to Cali on the 14th and gonna take in the Pomona Swap Meet.. Me and a bud are flying down but I expect to be driving something back home..

Re: I need an UN-BIASED opinion.
well i look at it this way if ide rather have a truck that was dependible and burnt alot of gas than a truck that you had to bring home and start workin/spending$$$ on and have to "finish" someone elses project. so ide say keep the ford but i have to say that is a clean looking ford in my chevy biased opinion!

Re: I need an UN-BIASED opinion.
Keep the Furd...at least 'till someone offers you a P.O.S. Dodge :D
I've driven quite a few Fords, never really had a problem with 'em. It only took one Dodge to do me for the rest of my life...they should sell those cheap ba$stards at Harbor Freight - same quality!!! |
Re: I need an UN-BIASED opinion.
You wont be gaining anything! Keep the Ford!
|
Re: I need an UN-BIASED opinion.
Wow, all the Chevy guys say keep the Ford!
I agree also, you made the right decision based on what was offered for the trade: keep the Ford. |
Re: I need an UN-BIASED opinion.
Keep the Ford. 14 mpg on a 460 or any big V8 3/4 ton is surprising to me - don't expect that in another similar truck. I only got that in a 3/4 ton 73 C20 454 on the highway only, with no A/C. Most Chevy V8 3/4 tons will get 10-12 mpg combined. Your Ford fixed up cosmetically is worth some $$.
