Tore the bed off of the truck, had the scrappers come over and pickup the bed, fenders a blown up 302 and a c4. Garage has much more space now.

Re: What did you get done12/19/10 edition

Mid week I cleaned the front wheels on the dually. They were pretty dirty between the lugs & center caps so I spent an hour or two doing some detail cleaning to remove the brake dust build-up & rust/corrosion off the lug nuts. Didn't have time for the rears yet.

I also swapped the impact-strip front bumper for another w/o the impact strip. I then removed the spare tire 'swing-out' carrier assembly & 4" exhaust tips so I would have better access to everything around the rear of the chassis when the time for dropping the suspension becomes available (exhaust tips didn't have to go.... I just wasn't a fan of them ;) ).

Friday, I swapped the master cylinder out & my buddy came by to help bleed the system. The pedal still isn't as good as I would like, but it no longer fades which is of more importance.

got the 400 sb home MotorHead Lon, a board member here, came over and helped us get it unloaded and in the back of the truck. So now the work begins. Wish me luck.

got the 6.0 mounted in the frame, but the trans I got from lkq this week was bad the pan was full of metal and the fluid was dark so hopefully they can come and get and send me another one, and started pulling out the cover over floor pan panels and I'm going to replace them with weld in

I was supposed to be off the last week of the year & was hoping to get it done then. But, work is ramping up to meet consumer needs so it's looking like it's just going to wait until I can have @ least 2 solids days w/o distractions.... in 2011.

Any bites on yours?

I actually made some decent progress & completed the duel tank mounts & bolted the 50 gallon fuel tank into the bed.

http://i182.photobucket.com/albums/x...1008/tank6.jpg

Now I'm onto the fuel pump wiring & MSD wiring ... both I'm not so confident with.

Fill ups weren't costing enough?

I'd dig the barter plan .... ANYONE???

As for the fill ups ... what's $150.00 per "tank" full .... anyway?

http://i182.photobucket.com/albums/x...8/oiltank9.jpg

http://i182.photobucket.com/albums/x...8/oiltank8.jpg

I didn't want to run the original tanks cause I lost 1 fuel pump just prior to the FI/carb change & the other has junk in it. I'd just rather remove them both & run 1 bed mounted tank.

Any reason you went a narrower tank that's 'deeper' into the length of the bed vs. making it shorter in length & wider?

ratty 46 12-26-2010 02:03 AM

Re: What did you get done12/19/10 edition

Well .... I'll tell ya:

That tank was actually a damaged diesel fuel tank from a PENSKE truck that was being tossed in the metal dumpster. I repaired the holes ... installed the pro werks filler neck & bed mounts. I also addeed a center fuel p/u -ala -8 AN fitting. So ... that was why I ended up with that tank shape. Plus it was polishable aluminum!!

COST .... free + the time & effort with the roller & welder.
