The Big Boys:Let's See Those K/20s & K2500s
The 3/4 ton 4wds were the top of the food chain IMO and have been the constant mainstay of my 67-72 interest. High option/low option, just the model configuration screams no BS truck. A highly optioned one sits right next to a big block shortbed in my book*. Don't forget the Suburbans, either. Talk about a wagon on steroids! Show 'em if ya got 'em,had 'em,or saw one.
I'll kick it off with a few notmyuns: http://i20.photobucket.com/albums/b2...cks55/a1_1.jpg http://i20.photobucket.com/albums/b2...ks55/2a_12.jpg http://i20.photobucket.com/albums/b2...55/7c_1969.jpg http://i20.photobucket.com/albums/b2...5/DSCF1005.jpg *I like 'em all. |

Re: The Big Boys:Let's See Those K/20s & K2500s
I have to agree. I love seeing pretty trucks, but love even more to see one you can use. I think it's very handsome as is.

Re: The Big Boys:Let's See Those K/20s & K2500s
Here is mine. When I bought it from the original owner it looked like this.
http://67-72chevytrucks.com/gallery/...-first-pic.jpg This is how it looks now except that I have had the mirror arms powder coated argent silver and I painted the rear bumper argent silver. I also took out the green shag carpet and layed down a couple of coats of Lizard Skin and then put in the factory rubber mat. This isnt a beauty queen, its a truck used as a truck. (course I wouldnt mind having a new paint job someday lol) http://67-72chevytrucks.com/gallery/.../3-qtr-ton.jpg |

Re: The Big Boys:Let's See Those K/20s & K2500s
No factory big blocks in any 4X4's in the 67-72 models years. But plenty of people have made the switch themselves

Here's my first one. This was in '79. Even though it was only seven years old, it still had so much more soul than my buddies newer trucks.
The red one was shot in 2003. It's in a complete restoration right now. It's not red anymore. Hopefully it will get out of paint prison early this spring. |

Here is my '69. I have filled this thing with logs (big ones), ran through deep snow and the only thing that stops it is my lead foot blowing out the head gasket.
CG- I love those smaller type 'west coast' style mirrors. Does anyone know where i can get some? |
Re: The Big Boys:Let's See Those K/20s & K2500s
Nice thread, with a lot of nice 8 lug 4x4ers! Mine will be the ugly one of the bunch I guess.

Re: The Big Boys:Let's See Those K/20s & K2500s
My burb came with the west coast mirrors, and it spent most of it's life with them. I just remember my Dad always cussing at them, since they would move all the time and didn't have much field of view.
As soon as I got the burb, they were the first to go. |

Re: The Big Boys:Let's See Those K/20s & K2500s
WOW! Too many trucks since this morning to comment on all of them. Big and bigger is cool. Superchevy's was the first tonner. Mine will be once I get under it. I like them from brute to beaut (pronounced like Butte as in Montana ). 8-luggers rock!...and sand, snow, mud,as well as hiway.
Talk about trucks we wish we still had: http://i20.photobucket.com/albums/b2...5/IMG_0564.jpg http://i20.photobucket.com/albums/b2...5/IMG_0549.jpg http://i20.photobucket.com/albums/b2...5/IMG_0547.jpg http://i20.photobucket.com/albums/b2...5/IMG_0555.jpg And,talk about bigger boys: http://i20.photobucket.com/albums/b2...0GMCdually.jpg |

I did the majority of the restoration before digital camera's and personal computers, so the best I have to share is a few shots I took with a insta-matic 110 that I have scanned  I've put them in my profile album if you want to see them. My restoration project has taken so long, that I bet it's one of the longest on here! I think I started in 1994, and I am still working on it... These burbs take a lot of time and money to restore, both of which have been very slim during my quest to get my baby looking good again. My family calls the burb my therapist, which is a pretty true statement for me. |

Re: The Big Boys:Let's See Those K/20s & K2500s
Love the 8 lug 4x4's. I think they might be my favorite configuration of our trucks. I go back and forth on a 2wd short bed hot rod, or a k20 4x4 as my favorite. I'd love to have one of each!
|
Re: The Big Boys:Let's See Those K/20s & K2500s
Ha ha,yeah,I hear ya. Check out my sig. I hoe to be rolling two and only two someday some. It doesn't get any better. Wait...yes it does. You can always get more. I had all that, had to sell off,and now a short/hot 2wd and an big/bad 8-lug 4wd will do me fine.
