Budget Buster 68 C10 swb fleetside
5 Attachment(s)
This is my 1968 C10 that I started out just wanting to install a modern drivetrain and for that I selected an LS376/480HP crate motor from G.M. with a 4L80e transmission built to hold up to 1000 HP with a FTL torque converter. The truck was Honeydew Mellon Pearl and I started out that I was going to keep the paint as there was nothing wrong with it but I wanted to paint the engine compartment semi-gloss black so that if I changed color later on, I wouldn't have to pull the motor etc. Well one thing led to another and now the truck is silver! It just got sprayed this past weekend and looks BADASS!
So now the truck will be completely new! I have already installed the Air ride suspension and all new CPP control arms with drop spindles and big brakes with hydraboost. New CPP rear trailing arms and cross member and new posi unit in the 12 bolt with new CPP big brakes. All brakes are drilled and slotted and got new stainless steel brake lines all the way back. New 2 piece billet Raceline Wheels, 20x8.5 up front and 22x10 rears.Attachment 773153 Attachment 773154 Attachment 773155 Attachment 773156 Attachment 773157 |

Re: Budget Buster 68 C10 swb fleetside
tinting the tail lights and front turn signal lenses. Not blacking them out just tinting for a different contrast.

Re: Budget Buster 68 C10 swb fleetside
Good idea...that will look nice with the silver and chrome. Truck is looking excellent!!!

Re: Budget Buster 68 C10 swb fleetside
Thanks Man! I wish I could get things done quicker though! I thought my painter was going to get it back to me yesterday or by this morning at the lastest but he has not finished wet sanding and buffing and I don't want to rush him! I was planning on getting it back to my house today and to start installing the Dynamat but I guess it will have to wait!

Re: Budget Buster 68 C10 swb fleetside
Picking up the truck tomorrow from the painter! Finally! He got it all sanded and buffed except the hood. He is keeping the hood until I get the motor installed. I was thinking about getting the billet hood hinges from Eddie Motorsports or Fessler. Has anyone used either brand and if so, any comments would be appreciated. Don't want to spend $750 if they don't do the job. I have Fessler's hinges on my 70 Chevelle and really like them.

Re: Budget Buster 68 C10 swb fleetside
What is the backspacing on your wheels?
|
Re: Budget Buster 68 C10 swb fleetside

I believe the rears wheels are 22"x10" with 5" backspacing and the fronts are 20x8 with 4.5 of backspace.Attachment 786354

Re: Budget Buster 68 C10 swb fleetside
I will check my receipt when I get to my office to verify for sure.
|
Re: Budget Buster 68 C10 swb fleetside
Back spacing on both front and rears wheels is 5.25". I just checked my paperwork. I hope this helps.
Also, I am using CPP 2" drop spindles and have installed Air bags all the way around and all CPP control arms and trailing arms etc. Stock rear tubs and stock wheel wells in front. |
Re: Budget Buster 68 C10 swb fleetside
Good things take time grasshopper! haha. Mate that thing is off its nut! Love the silver. Are you planing on blowing it or throwin on some turbos?

No Blower or turbos as this is going to be a daily driver. Not that putting either a blower or turbos would mean that it can't be street driven but i am on a budget! LOL! So much for the budget. I have already exceeded it. If I were still in the budget I would consider doing a TVC blower. But the LS376/480 will be enough for now. I mean, 480 HP?!! The truck will be about 3000 pound so it will be fun! So let the fun begin! I just picked it up today from my painter. It is back at my house so now I can start getting it finished up. I plan on starting with the interior and removing all the carpet padding and installing the Dynamat. Then I will mount the computer and start the wiring. Bummer is that I will be out of town for the next 4 days on business in Minneapolis:cuss: Here are a couple more pictures of the truck.Attachment 786677 Attachment 786678 Attachment 786679 Attachment 786680 |
Re: Budget Buster 68 C10 swb fleetside
Forgot to say Thanks for the comments on the truck!
Thank You! |
Re: Budget Buster 68 C10 swb fleetside
Do you still have the 68 rearend under it? I think its narrower than 69-72. I love how the wheels fit.

Re: Budget Buster 68 C10 swb fleetside
Are your airbags aired all the way out or is the pics all taken at ride hight? Doing a similar suspension setup, and wheel combo just adding the Cnotch in the rear. How much room do you have left between the inner fender and rear tire when bags are aired out. One last question what size tires are you running front and rear. Thanks and great job on the build color looks nice.
