Hi everyone, I have been working on this while it was my DD for almost a year. Finally started taking it apart. This site is awesome, there is so much info in one place. I thought it was a good time to post some pics. This is when I bought it.

Thanks for the comments. plans right now include an 85' donor, for cross member swap, power steering. I will also be changing out the 307 for a 327. Converting from column to floor shift. Trying my best to stay motivated. will take some new pics later today after work. its FRIDAY!

That is one of those blazer tanks from LMC. more work than their worth since you have to cut one if the cross sills under the bed floor:(

Practice...practice. Start on some old sheetmetal, and just take you time. If you need help just ask.

Going to pull motor out today I hope. wanting to remove engine/trans together. I did a few searches on it, but getting some conflicting info. some say it can be done others say no. not able to find info on my combo (327 / ms 420) I have everything disconnected that should be. not sure if the trans will clear the rear cross member. any advice would be great. Oh almost forgot this is my first engine pull. thanks in advance.

It can be done, it will help to have a tilter/leveler(thing with the black crank handle) attached to your hosit, so you can change the angle as the engine is coming out. You have the front clip off...right?

Thanks 72SWBCHEVY. I do have the load leveler, and thanks for the core support tip. right now the hood is off, but not core support. I thought it looked like it might hit rear motor mount support. (cross member ?)

Aghh I see now, that top piece is up past the floor bottom, others will need to chime in, I have never removed a manual shift tranny of this style, not much room for it to move around while taking it out..maybe you could loosen the front cab mounts and tilt the cab back some to give you more room..?

XxCHEVYMANxX 08-11-2011 03:51 PM

Re: 68' Chevy c10

Thanks again for the help. going to see what happens. if it wont go, I'll just remove the trans. would be easier if I didnt have to do it in the gravel drive, but I will make it happen! :metal:

Here's the latest. got the engine/trans out, and I did have to raise the cab to clear the trans. overall it went pretty smooth. the most trouble came from one bolt when removing the front clip. you guys know what I mean (that last bolt!)
Oh well, all that hard work makes the end result that much sweeter. :metal:
here's a couple pics.

Well my 327 is off getting rebuilt. I still have to pull engine/trans #3, and the crossmember from the 85' donor truck. the crossmember in the 68' has one bolt left on each side, so it's ready to come out. Thinking about a one piece driveshaft, not sure though.:chevy:

You're making great progress. Keep it up.

In your first post - third picture, you show a huge rear mounted fuel tank. Can you provide some details on what's from & what size (gallons). Is it set up for fuel injection?

Thanks.

Hey Blue666, Thanks. The tank is an LMC rear mount kit.(basicly a blazer tank) its 21 gal. truck will be carburated. I guess you could use it for fuel injection. If I had to do it again I would use a 60s car tank where the filler is behind license plate. I did'nt find this site soon enough.
