all that I retained from the old one was the door post with vin and the model plate from the fire wall and will put it back together around those 2 pieces
I have a 66 suburban body but does need a fair bit of rust repair and will just part it out when I get the one down below

I am biking over to Surrey tomorrow to have a look at this one. it would save me a lot of rust repair if it is as good as I was told it was by another fellow that was looking at buying it but forfeited his deposit.the truck come up from e. washington and has an 84 4 x 4 frame under it and was never reg as a 4 x 4 done there. before you can get them registered here they have to go through inspection and I doubt that it will make it. he orig wanted 3500. for it I think and I will pick it up for 1250. if there is minimal rust under there . there is some.
I have a real good front end sheet metal and every other part to put it back together

I have a soft spot for the OG look. Nate does beautiful work.

Has anyone cut down a panel to Blazer size? There isn't a 60-66 blazer, is there?

No factory blazer, but someone shortened a suburban to that size.. no lift off top though.

Now I read somewhere in my literature that there was a Special Delivery with a 96" wheelbase? I know the later Blazers were 106.5. The rear wheel house was right behind the doors. Looked almost clown car like as the proportions were so far off the regular 127" wheelbase. Anyone else hear or see of any?

Thanks Aero, I have always has a spot in my heart for panels, they do have one drawback in the design, it can be fun changing lanes if you don't have a passenger to look in the next lane.

well I did put a deposit on it. should be home hopefully in about a week and a half. it does need rockers and floor work and a few other little spots. get rid of that 84 frame and get mine under it
have to bring it over on a barge. lot cheaper than taking a truck and trailer over which would be about $450.00 return basic. this way it will be about $225.00

Yes, yes you do.

Dino, do you have any build shots of yours? I have only seen a few pics of it, one when you first redid the interior a while back.

Saw a good Suburban/ Panel rear bumper on a school bus conversion at the yard I was at today. 64-66 GMC 1 ton super long. No extra doors so everyone went in the front or through the rear. There's a big metal step protecting the bumper but its not attached to it.

amueller454 what wheels are you using?

Re: Panel trucks, don't see alot of them on the forum.

they are 15x10's i got from wheel vintiques. I actually ordered them through summit because it was cheaper than going straight to wheel vintiques.

Great project Chris! As you know “all are welcome here” but for your info there is a specific “1967 - 1972 Chevy/GMC Suburbans and PanelsProjects and Builds” section check it out, there you will find many burbs & panels builds of your truck’s generation. Will be checking out your build anyway but you might want to move it over there?

This is my "new" 1966 panel project. I am currently restoring the interior, then I will be restoring the exterior.

This is a very early St.Louis built panel, probably built the first or second week of august 1965. One of the first couple of panels built there that year, as far as I can tell.

I love panels, they are so useable and comfortable for cruising and camping in. Lots of room for luggage out of the weather.

350, 700R4, PS, PDB, sway bars, mechanically restored.

Here is an update on my 1966 panel. I completely stripped out the interior that came in the truck.

I removed the digital dash, the oak lath sides and roof in the cargo area, the maroon paint, the 2 inches of dirt on the floors. We also had to scrape and wire wheel tons of old 1970's carpet padding that was glued to the entire interior of the cargo area.

I went with a semi stock-ish look with lots of semi-original custom touches. The seats are just mocked up, I still have to install my seat belts. I am happy with it so far, I will work on the exterior and do a repaint next year.

That's it for my update. BH

60-66, I thank you for your response but I willl have to take exception to your answer. The panel has a unique jack mounting layout. see the picture attachment.

The picture is from the yellow assembly manual we all can buy online. The pickup snd the suburban are the same (upper left) but the panel is different.(upper right) Probably because of the cargo floor bulk head. The spring is mounted differently.

SInce you have panels I was hoping that your jack storage arrangement was still original. If it is send me a few pics if it's not too much trouble.

Well I took a lazy approach to my answer  sorry . I will have to go look now and see if I can find evidence of the jack sticker on a panel.

So the first picture with the silver paint is my 1961 Panel . Its showing evidence of the instruction sheet being scratched off and remnants of paper in the center, white dot. Then a rusty 66 panel parts truck. With the seat belt in place I dont see any evidence of an instruction sheet or it was in between the belt and hook at one time?
