From Fuel Altered to Funny Car
Here's what keeps me from finishing my C-10. I ran the car as an altered (no body) for several years, and now finally going to run it as a funny car. Blown Pontiac, of course.

Thanks! This past weekend, I took it to a fundraiser show for the local Boy Scout troop.

Re: From Fuel Altered to Funny Car
when you get around to painting it (unless it is already) and need someone to airbrush headlights/taillights or lettering (whether hand painted or vinyl), i'm in Ontario not far from you. I've met you before at the So Cal Nova BBQ's.
Are u going to the Hot Rod Reunion? Car looks *****en, good luck with it Tim |

is the cut off 78? That is what a mid 90's Firebird? Are you running alcohol?
Too many questions lol... Tim |
Re: From Fuel Altered to Funny Car
Hey Tim. Basically, pre-1980 body style is the general rule. It is actually a one of the last '93-'96 Candies & Hughes' Ford Probe GT Motorcraft bodies that Mark Oswald drove. The body was given to us, so the price was right. We ran it on about 10% nitro as a fuel altered, but will now run 30% nitro with the body on it.
I'll keep you posted on when my '63 C-10 gets to the point for paint...I have some custom lettering, pinstriping, etc. planned. |

Here is a basic car i lettered for a buddy running the Heritage series. Scroll to the bottom you can see the car lettering better along with the OCIR sign i hand lettered for my buddy. He is a OCIR fanatic. http://www.precisioncustomengines.com/2010Season.html Anyway, good luck with yours, looks like big fun (and $$$). Tim |
Re: From Fuel Altered to Funny Car
I still have my Chevy II...
Yep, I raced with Hans in ANRA for many years...Hans on the NE side and me on the Gasser side. http://i268.photobucket.com/albums/j...rsCircle-1.jpg |
Re: From Fuel Altered to Funny Car
the racing world isn't that big, i guess, Hans is a real cool guy and a great customer. As i said, an absolute OCIR fanatic, very dedicated to Orange County nostalgia. Always was a fan of your Nova. 62-63's are my favorite, they look killer as race cars.

Re: From Fuel Altered to Funny Car
vin63,
are those high ports? I have a question about your truck. Do you have a detailed pic of front motor plate? I have 69 c10 with mild 400 and 6x heads but will be installing 461 with E-heads soon. Hopefully tri tube headers will clear. I might go with motor plate this time around. Please post some pics of your set up. Thanks |

vin63,
thanks for the pics. Very clean install. I'm getting close, need to find someone to do ceramic coating. Seems like nobody does ceramic coating locally. Thanks again. |
Re: From Fuel Altered to Funny Car
You're running tri-Ys...those are nice. I run lots of batches through a local coater - Young Gun Performance Coatings. I'm actually about to drop off a pretty large batch. let me know if you want to include your headers (the last set they charged me $200 for the metallic ceramic sterling (polished) coating (inside and out) for a set of headers).

Re: From Fuel Altered to Funny Car
Ran the funny car at Speedworld in Arizona a couple weekends ago...we were really soft on the clutch, so it only ran a 7.20 et.

Re: From Fuel Altered to Funny Car
I believe I heard a little wimper from my mock up Pontiac 400 block today...starting on building a new 14-71 blower intake for the Poncho.

Re: From Fuel Altered to Funny Car
Nice!.....how much power do you think it makes on 30%??
You know you could easily pass that body off as an 80s Trans Am |

Vin63, that is a sweet ride! I love the 1471 on there. Holly molly!

Re: From Fuel Altered to Funny Car
Thanks, guys! It's a 6.0 ET class, so we wanted something where we didn't have to spin the blower so hard, like we did with my old 8-71 (we were spinning that one 30+ over to make 40 lbs of boost) to push that full body through the air. With the 14-71, we'll be at 17 over and a lot less surface area/drag.

Waiting on the '32 Bantam body to be painted...

Re: From Fuel Altered to Funny Car
Wait a minute! That is no Poncho if I'm seeing the plug locations correctly! Looks like a 426 or bigger Hemi! That's awesome!
|
Re: From Fuel Altered to Funny Car
That's correct...switched to Chrysler. Paint is finally done on the '32 Bantam Fuel Altered body...almost back to fuel altered configuration.

That's very nice! My wife and I love the nostalgia drags at Famosa.

Re: From Fuel Altered to Funny Car
Thanks! The sun finally made an appearance, so I got the body out of the bed of my truck and onto my dolly and started getting the sheetmetal mounted and parachutes hung, and release cables run...

Finally got to the track do some private testing this past weekend. Checking clutch stall and figuring out the new barrel valve. Burnout video will be posted shortly. And, yes, I have a pin up model on the crew.

That thing is bad a**! I love it. I can't decide which is better........ The pic of the valve cover off that hemi, or your pit crew member barring the engine over? It sure sounds nasty!

Was able to make a couple of 100-ft. test hits over the Thanksgiving holiday weekend at Barona. We were able to tag a .950 60-ft. Here's one of the videos my buddy took...
