154,000 just got its first engine rebuild.

Ol' Grey 04-12-2003 11:11 PM

155K, one owner, original 305/700-R4. Changed the rear several years ago not because it was bad, but made an even trade for a 12-bolt. Had the heads off for valve job and put some headers on while I was at it. I'm hoping to get it back together and running this month. I've been to busy to mess with it lately.

gchemist 04-12-2003 11:27 PM

156000+ on a 305 SB. Third tranny too!!

BaggedC10 04-13-2003 12:14 AM

203,000 on the original 305 and 700R4.

78' Silverado 04-13-2003 01:13 AM

HAHA I got you all beat with the lowest Mileage :) I got 35k on my motor and around 15k on the trans if that. :) I think its got a 98' Model 350, and its got a 400 Turbo tranny.

Ryan Flowers 04-13-2003 01:15 AM

I have 320,000 original miles on my 85 6.2L Diesel and about 130,000 on my 90 GMC................Promised myself I would not change out the Diesel until she dies. She's still going strong but I really want to drop in a new crate Diesel. Thinking it's about time for a rebuild on the 350 in the 90.

chevy68388 04-13-2003 01:28 AM

Blue Beard 04-13-2003 09:52 PM

I sold a 66 Chevy pickup with a 67 Impala engine and trans in it with 368,000 original miles on it. Carb had been rebuilt several time, and finally replaced.

Very temermental, just maintained well.

Chevy67Tk 04-13-2003 11:26 PM

Current truck 67 C20 168,000 miles

Past trucks (R I P)
81 ¾ ton 2WD 300,124 miles original engine (never opened), one overhaul on TH400. Whistled when driving and door skins flapped from all the rust, but if some one said lets go on a 1000 mile trip mechanically it would have made it just left piles of rust every were so it could find its way home.

72 C10 210,000 my first truck, the original rust bucket / Flintstones mobile. Keys fell out of the ignition one day and went through the hole in the floor, bottle jack fell out the hole were the cab corner was, and the seat went through the floor. 1 engine, 2 TH350 transmissions, 1 rear.

Hum…. Are we noticing a trend here, think I better enroll in a body shop class?

r0lf- 04-13-2003 11:39 PM

I prolly win for least miles, I bought mine original 30k miles on it. No new tires even. I6 /w 3 on the tree. It was my grandpas truck for work, then he retired 2 years later and since 1980 it has only accumilated 30k, now since Ive been driving it everyday it has 44k on it, but still runs great considering.

mike reeh 04-14-2003 12:18 AM

rolf, you got any pics of that truck, Id love to see it..
you dont see too many '80s esp. with 3 on the tree
mike

gchemist 04-14-2003 12:40 AM

I have a few. The paint is really bad as it sat outside for 20+ years. Its got alot of sun damage. I recently put a ding (big one) in the driverside fender also, but hey, you gotta live a little.

LOHRTBT 04-14-2003 11:39 AM

If only I knew how many miles were on it!! lol

PHOENIX 04-14-2003 12:26 PM

I wish I knew. I didnt right down the miles before the engine swap or before the gauge swap. I know its over 150k. I guess I'll never know :)

TIMSPEED 04-14-2003 01:20 PM

The body/frame has 174k on it. The tranny was rebuilt in 91 (dunno the mileage right off hand) the motor now has 10 miles on it. :D The original motor lasted 174k though...(350/TH350 combo)

solidaxel 04-14-2003 03:16 PM

My 78 Silverado has 151220 Mi. The valve covers have never been off new Turbo 350 at 79,000 and major tune up 1st one at 145,000. I bought the truck from the orginal owner with 7,000 miles on it in 1980. Several sets of plugs 1 water pump and two fule pumps. The best chevy I have owned except for my 65 Vette that I have had since 1967.
When you live in Az. you don't have to replace vehicles very often !!!!
