radio delete plate
Can radio delete plates be purchased new?
|
Re: radio delete plate
Nope. Haven't seen them.
There's some for sale around here though. Post a wtb and see what happens. I know there's a member that's hoarding tons of them but not sure if he sells any of them... :( |
Re: radio delete plate
I just sold one for 20. I don't know what they're worth but THAT one was worth 20. ha ha ha I only had the one. Sorry.

|
Re: radio delete plate
I only found one on ebay and it was broken.
|
Re: radio delete plate
I have one but it only has one clip =( I think the clips are harder to find than the plates
|
Re: radio delete plate
Let this guy know if he can duplicate the part. He does plastic replicas for a lot of muscle cars and maybe even has one that will fit our trucks.

It has been about the chase for me..It started as something I had wanted in my 72 build..Just so happened the first guy I called said $75 and would not budge,(I did not buy that one)...,I went to a couple spots the first weekend and picked up 3 for free.,that sparked my interest...so ebay, parts board, swap meets, junk yards....

When I first got my truck I took the delete plate off to install a radio. I almost threw it out since I didn't have any use for it. Now I'm glad I kept it. Not sure for what but after what I've read here, they're higly desirable. Not valuable but hard to come by.
It seems to me that someone with a little ability could easily replicate these with aluminum stock or sheet metal. |
Re: radio delete plate
just bought one on ebay, for 10 bucks plus 6 for the ride.
|
Re: radio delete plate
Gonna try and make 1 if I get time today in the machine shop... I'd like to make it out of stainless steel but gotta figure out a way to mount it without drilling holes

One method I thought of (I lost my clips) was to glue rubber plugs that would fit tightly in the knob holes. Never could find the plugs though. |
Re: radio delete plate
I've seen them made with aluminum sheet using hardwood form blocks and a 3 ton press. After painting you can't tell them apart from the original looking from the front.

Did this real quick now I'm gonna put it in the press to see if I can make that lip... Posted via Mobile Device |
Re: radio delete plate
Awesome!! you should make me one hahaha!
|
Re: radio delete plate
Let me figure out if I can do the lip 1st... I'm thinking I may use a 2part epoxy and attach a magnet to the backside of the stainless steel and use that to make it stick to the dash ... ( fingers crossed)

Re: radio delete plate
Is the fitment from a 66 delete plate the same for a 70 chev?
|
Re: radio delete plate
Mine had factory radio delete so I was fortunate enough to have that one, however I need a heater delete plate, anyone have one?
|
Re: radio delete plate
I need one if someone is not hoarding and wants to help a fellow trucker. Let me know by PM your price, condition, etc.--inc. shipping to 27028. They are long gone from wreckers around here. Thanks!
