1984 GMC Sierra aka Bailey Blue II
Well after selling my last truck..a 72 C10 which i completely regret to pay off some new baby bills...Ive decided to buy another project to start on. Luckily I found a really nice 1984 GMC Sierra Classis that was a one owner truck that was taken really good care of.
The gentleman who bought it new back in 84 decided to restore it several years back and only drove the truck 5K since 2007. He did a really good job of taking this rust free truck and giving it a different look. Fast forward to the present and the truck still is flawless but a little outdated. Its cool to find old nice trucks like this and give them a few changes to make them yours. Here are a few pics of the truck in the current state. I plan on continuing the two tone blue and silver all the way to the front of the truck keeping the green pin strip, dress up the motor, lowering or bagging it and adding larger wheels. It has been lowered 2 1/2 inches in the front with drop spindles and 4 inches in the back with shackles and hangers. Let me know what you guys think or suggestions. :chevy: http://i771.photobucket.com/albums/x...6/P1050902.jpg http://i771.photobucket.com/albums/x...6/P1050910.jpg http://i771.photobucket.com/albums/x...6/P1050908.jpg http://i771.photobucket.com/albums/x...6/P1050906.jpg http://i771.photobucket.com/albums/x...6/P1050919.jpg http://i771.photobucket.com/albums/x...6/P1050921.jpg http://i771.photobucket.com/albums/x...6/P1050923.jpg http://i771.photobucket.com/albums/x...6/P1050913.jpg |

Re: 1984 GMC Sierra aka Bailey Blue II
The middle photoshop looks reeally good! I like how clean and classic this truck looks. Is that a front bumper on the rear?
|
Re: 1984 GMC Sierra aka Bailey Blue II
looks like from the side huh? no its a rear bumper. look at the top pics of the rear. it has a deep licence plate section unlike the from bumpers.

Re: 1984 GMC Sierra aka Bailey Blue II

Re: 1984 GMC Sierra aka Bailey Blue II
ur not gona put a pinstripe on it?
|
Re: 1984 GMC Sierra aka Bailey Blue II
Yes, you just cant see it under this light and dirtyness...I changed it to a gray. The strip is thinker in the rear and tapers off toward the front to a point. You will see it when its clean.

Took the overload spring out of the rear and it dropped it about 3/4 to 1 inch.....needs more. right?

Re: 1984 GMC Sierra aka Bailey Blue II
From these angles it looks like it has a nice rake to it. The stance that makes it look fast when it's sitting still. More pics may yield a different response.....
Paint change looks great!! |
Re: 1984 GMC Sierra aka Bailey Blue II
No it definatly has about 1 1/2 rake to it....Its got to come down more. I need a smaller tire in the front to keep it from rubbing the fender and a flip kit in the rear. I want to put a C-notch in at the same time as the flip kit so it will have to stay like this untill then. tires come first so i can drive it.
|
Re: 1984 GMC Sierra aka Bailey Blue II
OK guys, I need to install a flip kit and C notch.....I need help doing it or does anyone know a good small shop in Houston TX that does this kind of thing....dont want to use a big shop that has alot of projects they are working on and i have to wait weeks/months to get it done.
|
Re: 1984 GMC Sierra aka Bailey Blue II
all you need to do a flip & notch is some tools, a drill & cut off wheel..
|
Re: 1984 GMC Sierra aka Bailey Blue II
I know, Ive helped install a few in the pass but I need a helping hand. I work out of a small garage and dont have a engine lift to raise my bed by myself.
It would be nice to have some one with experience helping me so i can knock the whole thing out in a afternoon....or just pay a small shop to knock it out and i can work on other things on the list. |
Re: 1984 GMC Sierra aka Bailey Blue II
Cool project, The truck looks way better with the solid silver.
As far as doing the flip kit and notch, you do not have to remove your bed. It is easier, but you don't need to do it. I did my notch and flip on my truck with out taking the bed off in about 3 hours. The part of the notch that goes on top of the frame is a tad tight against the bed but I beat it in using a rubber mallet. |

Re: 1984 GMC Sierra aka Bailey Blue II
So I had these (Eagle 227's) in the garage on another car and thought i would see what they look like on the truck......Not to bad...gives it a pro touring look. Saving for some billets in the future. Oh and this is my sons first pic with daddy's truck... What do you guy's think?
