Re: 1991 ss350
< Jealous! I love these trucks. Have you seen this thread?
|
Re: 1991 ss350
No i hadn.'t Just went through all 10 pages though thanks . It will be base clear black with the factory markings .
|
Re: 1991 ss350
Very nice truck! Will you be changing the mirrors back to sport mirrors?
|
Re: 1991 ss350
Yes , i have the mirrors and they are gonna be painted also . The previous owner wanted the big ones for his boat so he swapped them .
Seems there is alot of controversy about these trucks . Some say they made them . so say they didn't . Mine came from the original owner and he was an older gentleman . The story i got from him was the emblems on the doors were factory and he drove it off the lot like it is now . I took the stickers off as its going to paint monday . Mine does have the RPO codes listed in the thread link posted . He also told me that he lowered the truck to make it easier to get in and out of . |
Re: 1991 ss350
Alright , i was digging through my stash and i have a 2 bolt main roller block , nodular iron LT1 crank with powdered metal rods , .030 4 relief flat tops , LT1 roller cam and lifters (.202/.208 @.050 .450/.460 on 116 ) Summit timing chain set , Fresh set of standard rod and main bearings and a set of world S/R torquers in the machine shop . Trying to tbi driver with some pep . Hoping these will work together . May get the Pre LT1 ,, Lo5 heads and put on it .

Re: 1991 ss350
Dropped it off at the body shop for paint this morning . It is surposed to be finished friday evening .
|
Re: 1991 ss350
Went by to take a look at it today and these guys are going a great job . Looks like it will go in paint thursday morning and be ready friday morning . All the guys in the shop were excited about it . Seems they dont often get the chance to do a full base clear job as alot of people just want budget paint over dings and such . Really looking forward to seeing it . Here is a pic update .

Re: 1991 ss350
I think it looks better then good. Looks almost flawless. Is it just run of the mill black? Or is there like flake or anything in there? Is this going to be daily driven or is it a weekend cruiser?

I originally bought this to use as a daily "beater" to counter the cost of Diesel . My daily now is a ext cab 4 x 4 and it is nice to have a short bed reg cab . It is nimble and easy to manuver . I have been driving the Big Ford for 9 years now and even though im not selling it i am ready for something different now and then . The Luv is more race and weekend . The 49' im afraid to even pull out of the garage . So this will do split duty with the powerstroke . |
Re: 1991 ss350
Yeah tomorrow when I'm at work i'll get the numbers for the bed sides.

Re: 1991 ss350
Sorry work has been busy . Got it back from the paint and added 2 new front brake hoses , pads and rotors .Bleed the brakes with vavoline 3/4 synthetic . Added 4 new 235/75/15 Bridgestones . Went salvage yard hunting and dug up a factory air breather with air inlet hoses . Here are some pics of it ,, crappy cell pics at night .

Re: 1991 ss350
Weather here has been kinda nasty and ive been working . Ill try and get some good day pics of it . Pretty happy with the paint . I already have a 49' five window that i spent $11K on and it is so nice i cant enjoy it .
|
Re: 1991 ss350
Nice truck man, mine is an original sport 350 and came with big mirrors like those.
Was there a difference in the sport350 and the SS350? I dont think there is but maybe someone here knows. Matt |
Re: 1991 ss350
The guy i bought it from said it came with the sport mirrors on it and he put the big ones on . I swapped back to the sports , but im putting the big ones back on cause i cant see with the little ones .
|
Re: 1991 ss350
You'll get used to the sport mirros. I have them on my truck and it took about 3 days to get used to em.
|
Re: 1991 ss350
Im warming up to them . I dont drive it everyday so it may take a while .
Got the heads for the motor build back from the machine shop and the rotating assembly is at the balancer . Block has been rough machined and is ready for final washing before torque plate hone . Looks like i'll be assembling it in about 2 weeks . Going tommorow and pick up the shim kit to swap in the posi unit . Probably going to swap in the S-10 7004r torque converter as it would move the stall up to about 1800-2200 and not really effect driveabilty . The truck has 3.08 gears , so i have actually been thinking about a gear swap to something like 3.42 for just a little more pep . |
Re: 1991 ss350
This is a good looking truck. look forward to seeing more.
