Ok well here we go, I have had this Blazer for a little over a year now, and have been gathering up just about everything under the sun that I have liked, found on the threads or other wise and it is time to get it going. I will post as I go, but I don't have as much time as I use to, and getting it to work on a build is going to get a little shorter as a New addition to the family is coming.

So Here we go. The Blazer was bought with a little rust needed has been sitting for 11 year and then before that it was barley driven at all. No special order Blazer or nothing.

It came to me like this

and then trying to organize the pieces I just purchased.

So the plan is to Drop a LS-1 with a 4L60 & 246 transfer case. The idea is to have push button 4wd on the fly.

So the delema was to find a front axle that would allow for Drivers drop, and that will be a '79 f250 with high piñon so might as well go 8 lug for a nice wheel. The other delima is crossmember for both the LS-1 and the 4L60.

Well I found a CCP universal LS-1 cross member that works great with a little modification. and well we just built one for the 4L60e. I will post as many pictures as I can, but right now it is in the begging were we all have to start.

Remove all you can, to put it all back and then remove again to put back, you know the routine.

Making sure the wheel I want will fit, Size of wheel and tire this is not the one I want, it is a friends off his truck. Letting me use to see how it looks.

Got the New Headers, after about 3 different name brand tries these ones are made from a guy on Ebay, and are the nicest and not to forget the least expensive. Also got the Intake Hydro dipped and the 4 core radiator with electric fans.

The New Billet Dash Panel, Made from Ryan Hubbard, he is right here on these forums and makes these I contacted him to make me one that will have a Dakota Digital Dash Insert for the Shift indictor that will be a little cleaner then the Clock in the Middle and clean up the steering column.

Nice conversion.

Do you by chance remember who you bought your headers from exactly?

Or if you know the application they are for, that would help also. Just trying to save a lot of hassle on what fits for the LS series swaps.

Here is a link to the guy's store front on EBAY, He said he makes them.
I don't see them in his store anymore, but if you email and ask him about getting a pair I bet he could I only paid 189.00 for them that is 1/4 the price of any other good pair I tried and he was the only one that had the dimensions.

Hi,

I just checked his page and he has a set of long tube headers for a Camaro..? Is that what you purchased or was it listed as something different..? Thanks in advance.. Nice build BTW.. I actaully was thinking about the same thing this morning in regards to the push button 4wd and started researching anc came across your project...but I am not sure what all is involved yet at this point.. I understand there is a Transfer case motor, seperate PCM, wheel hubs that have an eletrical connections and then obvioulsy the switch to be installed in the dash somewhere where it won't be hit by accident while driving... Anything else missing... I have an NP208 case already but that will have to go I guess.. I have a 72' GMC Jimmy that I am restoring as well...

It was specific for the LS1, He had all the dimensions for the Headers, but not excate make or model of car was in the listing.

This was what the Title on EBAY Was and the item number. Send this to the guy and ask if he can make another set.

Doing about 3 weeks of axle research, it was the only one that would fit correctly with out modifying the crap out of it, it was also quad piston, High pinion, drivers side drop. I could also take the auto locking hubs form a corporate and put them in to work with what I was looking for. WIth all that said, Yes unfortunately I had to go Ford on a Chevy, but have been told this is a great axle.

If I may ask, which push button setup are you going with... Also, could you outline all the items that are required for such a conversion..? I am on the fence in regards to going this direction as I have read over several forums where folks just do not like to deal with the problems associated with the electric push button option.. Maybe there were certain models/years they had issues with - who knows.. I just want something that is dependable..

Also you mentioned the ford axles were 8 lug.. I really want to keep my old school 5 spoke rims that are 6 lug.. Do they make any kind of conversion..

I am going with the Chevy Push button as they have had push button the longest. It is out of a 2002 suburban. It is the 4L60e Transmission with the NP246 Transfer Case. You can keep the 6 lug wheel with your 5 spoke rims, but here is the problem you will fun into.

If you are looking to due a push button 4wd they are all off either a chevy or ford I think even a jeep, but anyway they are all drivers side drop. In order to to this you will need a front axle with a drivers side housing. I prefer the 8 lug wheels better so I stepped up to the ford axle with the high piñon. As far as axles go I research the crap out of them for what I wanted and would recommend you do the same if you want to due this for a 6 lug similar set up.

The NP246 I have been told is a good transfer case it just needs the updated pickup pump inside cause they go out all the time.

The button config. will be the stock one that is used for the same truck. The fun part is getting it to work with the computer. I will bypass the computer and put in a alternating toggle switch. This will have to be switched to on to trick the TCCM and allow the tach speed wire to know it is all ok to engage. This is something I am still working on, but I may have found a way to input the speed wire from the computer harness in to work the same way as stock on would. Not sure if this what you were asking, but here you go and hope it helped.

What modifications did you have to do to the CPP LS Crossmember, awesome build by the way! I'm just gettting started on my 70 CST 4x4, I've got the LS 6.0 and 4L60E ready to go just trying to decide on a crossmember

The Crossmember is nice for the price it has the nicest plates I have come accessed with no modification of the Alternator bracket. And all the grade 8 hardware. LOL Listen to me sound like I work for the company.

As far as the modification you will have to cute the bar down. to make it fit in-between the rales.

And then from there it is up to you. I am join to make separate plates to weld inside the rales and with the crossmember bar welded to that. After ordering 2 other conversion kits and Even the one from CPP. I came across this one.

The funny story I even called CPP to explain what I was doing. And they were going to sale me there tubular LS conversion kit as they call it. I ran into a forum about conversions and read it is only for 2wd. I was fired up when I cancelled as I had searched for over 2 months trying to find a kit. Then I went a searching again. Came across this one "FROM CPP" on EBAY and well it works great can't believe they don't tell 4wd people about it. But anyway it worked out Sorry about the rant. I love the challenge hate the stupidity.

Also going to try something they say @ Brothers not to try, and that is the Brothers 1 piece window conversion kit.

I have talked to a window guy long and hard about this, and I think we can get it to work. I will see either a sweet idea, or a disaster.

I'd try these from Captkaos before going with the Brothers' kit since in post 8 it has it installed in a blazer door. It also doesn't have the little filler piece...

So with that being said, does anyone want to buy a Brothers one Piece Power Window Kit. Man Tubbed were were you 3 months ago. LOL I appreciate the link and may be changing kits. That is funny I searched to see if any one had done this yet, and well could not find a thing.

Talked to Brothers the recommended against it. Have glass guy that said it will be fine, and well ordered it. I do like the one with no spacer. I was told Brothers new ones have no space though I will have to look through the box and see.
