Thanks guys! I was needing a pic so I would know what exactly they looked like, as I'm on the look out for one if anyone will sell one reasonable enough.

I think one from a late 70's Camaro would look about the same.

Got my factory clock installed this weekend. Fairly straight forward process. The instructions show 2- 1/8" holes, which is incorrect. The screws are 10 x24thread and require a 3/16" hole. The hole for the wires is 5/16".

Some pics of the install. Its still in the fawn color as Im changing interior color in the spring. Will take some getting used to as it sits in the middle of the dash.

Re: 60-66 factory clock pics?

Will do. I use to see them alot 20 years ago....they are getting harder to find. Corvairs are another source to look at.

Re: 60-66 factory clock pics?

Yep, i seen one in a '61 burb about 10 yrs ago, wish i would've got it.

Re: 60-66 factory clock pics?

Yeah, I passed on a few mostly in corvairs when I was younger. Didn't have any want for one. Now getting older and they are getting harder to find. Ive tried to find most of the factory options that I like. The compass being the one interior part that I probably wont install. The dinsmore compass's go for like $400-$800 and I really dont care for how they look/mount.

Evan's 1965 10-29-2012 01:58 PM

Re: 60-66 factory clock pics?

Same here, I'm not sure what the compass looks like? Do you have a link to a pic? As for the Clock, I'd take the fawn one or a black one..I wouldn't care as long as the price wasn't crazy.

They mount using the top screw on the rear view mirror bracket as seen here in aerotrucks 63. I imagine that running the wire acroos the cab brow is probably no fun at all.

There are also several variations of the compass, this is the one that comes up in the factory accessory brochure

Here's what I'm doing--it's factory, but it's not.
After keeping an eye open for a couple years, I finally found a clock at the NE Georgia Swap Meet that'll work: It's a factory clock for something, but I don't know what.
I'm going to cut a hole in the factory Heater Delete dash plate, weld a couple studs to the back side and flush-mount the clock in the Delete plate.
My truck is a '61. I'm going to have heater control cables made that are a little longer than factory, and move the Deluxe heater control head over to where the ash tray is, then mount my clock in the dash where the heater control head was.
It'll look factory, but won't be.

Re: 60-66 factory clock pics?

you might consider using an ashtray faceplate from a 60-63. they are alot easier to come by. for some reason, delete plates get scarse.

Well I have a 61 K10 thats a pretty base truck that I thought about using it on but I plan on doing a factory correct restoration and it owuld seem out of place on it in my opinion.

Well, the nice thing is that it was a factory option or could be dealer installed. So if its period correct than it wouldn't be out of place. It'll take me a few days to get use to it. Ive been driving a 63 since i was 15, and we've always had 1st gen's around since I was a kid. 1st one w/a clock though. Just so use to the empty dash....but its growing on me.

I think both look good. Unless your going to a concourse show where they are judging 100%, I wouldn't really worry about it.

looks good. As I have stated early, if anyone has one in decent shape at a good price, I'm interested in it. Don't care if it's a fawn or black one!

Re: 60-66 factory clock pics?

Evan your looking for the 64-66 clock? Ill keep my eyes peeled. Saw one on scam bay awile back for like $450. I have seen the 60-63 style clocks go for as little as $75 (in original box a few months ago...was shocked that $75 bought it) to as high as $800. Some of these things get pretty pricey.

I will take any 60-66 dash clock in decent shape for the price that one sold ($75) for or less! As long as everything is there & hopefully works. doesn't have to be 64-66. I actually might even like the 60-63 like yours best, as that's the kind I seen in a junkyard when I was just a kid.

Re: 60-66 factory clock pics?

That seems to be the million dollar problem. The clocks pop up, but rarely do I see them go for $75. I would have bought the other won for that had I been keeping an eye on it. I do see them regularly go for around $125. Keep tabs on ebay for corvair clocks...best source Ive found yet for clocks.

These are two others Id look at for installing. Both are 63 models. The first is part #985581 and its for the chevy II, the second is part # 985348 and it was used on the bel air, impala & biscayne. Both should be around the same size as they were made for clusters.
