Bably blue wheels, poverty caps and trim rings. Lowered slightly. I like the look of my wheels. Im in no hurry to get my Rally's put on.
Tires are 215/70R15 front and 235/75R15 rear. Lowered 6/8 with rear air shocks. |
Re: 15x7 steelies with poverty caps-lets see em
Could we not call them "poverty caps?" This is such a negative word and displays very negative thinking.
And yes, i do run these. i prefer to call them "step van" hubcaps. For obvious reasons. |
Re: 15x7 steelies with poverty caps-lets see em
never heard poverty caps b4...
i've always though that they were called "dog dish" hub caps. i like the blue wheels! |

Here's a pic of my plain wheels with 225 75 15s. Those tires are too small. That truck has rallies on it now.
If you're going to use 15x7 wheels at close to stock height, I really recommend 255 70 15 tires. I don't have them on plain steel wheels, but here's a pic on factory aluminum wheels. I really like them. |

Thank you. i would accept "dog dish" a little more. Although i think there are even better alternatives.
Poverty, i think, is a little negative. Actually, if you look at the prices for a replacement cap at LMC i doubt you could be living in poverty to afford one. That's one of the reasons why i find the term poverty to be a little offensive. P.S. My favorite ones are the gmc 3/4 ton caps----6 spokes instead of five, like FJ's above. |

Do these fit on rally wheels? I hate the stock center caps on mine... They looks so 4x4ish.

Re: 15x7 steelies with poverty caps-lets see em
I ran these for a short time. Been thinking of doing this look again, but have the rims widened out to 8" minimum. Maybe run a 255-70-15 or a 275-60-15

EDIT: And,what's up with "dog dish" anyway?I mean, does anyone have a dog that eats off a dish? My dogs always ate out of bowls. Even my daughter's poodle eats from a bowl. Here's a truck I had with 9.75s and hubcaps and the Jimmy I currently own, with 7" wheels and hubcaps: |

I've always called them dog dish
for me hubcap would cover the whole wheel I like the simple look to them 79 jimmy |
Re: 15x7 steelies with poverty caps-lets see em
So a hubcap covers the entire wheel? What's a wheel cover then? ;)

Re: 15x7 steelies with poverty caps-lets see em
Fact: hub caps and wheel covers are safety items. They were originally put on so you could hear when a lug nut fell off.

according to wiki A hubcap, wheel cover or wheel trim is a decorative disk on an automobile wheel that covers at least a central portion of the wheel. Cars with stamped steel wheels often use a full wheel cover that conceals the entire wheel. Cars with alloy wheels or styled steel wheels generally use smaller hubcaps, sometimes called center caps. Alternatively, wheel cover refers to an accessory covering an external rear-mounted spare tire (also known as a spare tire cover) found on some off-road or survival-type vehicles. or When pressed steel wheels became common by the 1940s, these were often painted the same color as the car body. Hubcaps expanded in size to cover the lug nuts that were used to mount these steel wheels. These hubcaps were typically made from chrome-plated or stainless steel. The next development was, as an option on more expensive cars, a chrome-plated trim ring that clipped onto the outer rim of the wheel, in addition to the center hubcap. Finally came the full wheel cover, which of course covered the entire wheel. By this time, specialty wheels of magnesium or aluminum alloy had come onto the market, and wheel covers were a cheap means of imitating the styling of those. Plastic wheel covers (known in the UK as wheel trims) appeared in the 1970s and became mainstream in the 1980s. Plastic has largely replaced steel as the primary material for manufacturing hubcaps and trims, and where steel wheels are still used, the wheels are now generally painted black so the wheel is less visible through cutouts in the wheel trim. On modern automobiles, full-wheel hubcaps are most commonly seen on budget models and base trim levels, while upscale and performance-oriented models use alloy wheels. Modern aluminum alloy wheels generally use small removable center caps, similar in size to the earliest hubcaps. |

Re: 15x7 steelies with poverty caps-lets see em
Really guys? Holy cow  Call them what ever you want. I've called them Poverty caps since back in the day like everyone else did. They were base wheels at no extra cost on most models back then and it kept the price of the cars down (hence the term poverty). Most went this route because they knew they would get tossed in the trash and replaced with mags most of the time. Sometimes refered to as dog dishes because when the mags went on the caps made a good dog dish (dog bowl just doesn't have the same ring to it ;)) Although I have to admit I've never seen them used this way. Especially now with the cost these things bring. I've seen sets like I have pictured below go over $500.
Here is a shot of my not so politically correct (poverty,,,,ehem') caps  I run these off and on sometimes switching to rally II's. Just love the look myself. My truck pictured earlier will keep the 16.5's and poverties so long as I can keep buying E load range tires for it. http://i755.photobucket.com/albums/x...rebirdpic1.jpg |

I call them lug nut containers when I'm removing a wheel (set on a rag so as not to scratch the "poor" things)
