67 SWB Custom "Jane" Piece by Piece project

Alright I started this project 10 years ago (at the age of 12) when I took it over from my dad who had given up and was gonna junk it. At that point and time it was just a frame and boxes among boxes of parts. Being so young and not having any money, tools, or experience no real progress was ever made, basically just bought a few parts here and there and the project was pushed aside. All of the steps forward that I've made have been followed by two steps backwards also didn't help I changed my vision so many times, all and all I have learned alot along the way ;)

Fast forward to a couple of weeks ago, I picked up a new frame from member BlueEK9 that he had stripped down for his dropmember project. The reason for the new frame was I was unhappy with the step notch I installed on my original frame and wanted to start over. Since then motivation has been high and I think a build thread will keep the ball moving.

So as soon as I got the frame to my house no time was wasted in removing the last crossmember and cleaning up the frame rails. Ill be using all the crossmembers from my previous frame which include ECE drop xmember and CPP tubular trans xmember.

Re: 67 SWB Custom "Jane" Piece by Piece project

alright so me and the wife came to the name Jane beacuse were going for a clean resto rod build it will be a bagged classic white swb sporting factory trim and 20"s. not the plainest truck out there but at the same time a little "plain jane" compared to alot of the builds out there.
So some of the parts I have piled up over the years for the truck include:
freshly built 350 .030 bore
T400 (thinking of swapping for 700R4)
thorbecke bros tubular upper and lower a arms
air lift 2600's for the front some 2500's for the rear
ride tech shock relocators & shocks for front
rear shock relocators
ECE adjustable track bar
2" drop blocks
drop spindles disc brake conversion
and all new tie rods etc.
the new frame already had a notch previously installed so that will do for now

That's the plan! I'm gonna have to heat up and bend the bumper brackets you made me, I compared them to my buddies 68 and it looks like the gmc brackets were closer to 90 degrees and the Chevy's have more of an angle to them o well

this is how she would have sat aired out with the old frame, with the new frame it should only be about 1.5" higher in the rear even though im only going with a small notch

Felt like bringing out the welder today just to make sure I don't forget how
it's done. So the first time I welded was a few years back I decided to fill in
my heater holes on the firewall, the end result was horrible to say the least
lol so out with old and in with new, not to bad for a hours work.

Thanks I'm just happy to get a little done here and there. Lucky for me my can was pretty decent but yoi can fix anything with the right tools. Ya I was over at Chris's house that night checking it out, grabbed a couple of little things off of it.

So just a couple small updates, I've got the front suspension installed minus front sway bar and power steering box. I installed the motor and also the old Th400 so the rear of the motor has support. Last I installed the rear differential to check clearance which I'm glad I did because my ECE track bar actually hits the frame before full dump so ill have to go with one that mounts on the side of the trailling arm rather than above it.

Or you can use a lowering block between the ECE mount and the rearend housing,...

Pumpkin will hit the bed floor before you get that far.
Put a snubber in there and go.

I'm already raising the floor 4" to make room for a few things, the pumpkin being one of them

Hello Fastcam, ya I have 69 longbed that I am building.

It is a slow project as I am building it as I get money, however income tax check arrived last week so that has gave it a boost for a while.

I haven't started a buildthread on here yet, I want to get alittle farther on it.

Kevin
