65' Short Fleet BBW "The Pumpkin"

Well, I been looking high and low for a 63' to 66' BBW Short Fleet ever since Del pressured me out of the last one :(, yesterday I found a decent one that runs fantastic with a 327/350 power plant, an older restored truck that has some minor rust issues but nothing too severe that I can definitely live with, I think the only thing the truck needs is some 2 toning, a white top with white inserts on the sides and the white around the grill would really set it off (the grill will probably be changed to a 63' grill later anyway ;)) plus a tilt from our own Kevin Hernandez to make it look like it came with it, and I'm thinking some polished slots on this one...... So in all said I give you the Pumpkin!!!! :chevy:

Wow.
Super nice BBW truck.
Rene,... is the '63 grille thing a personal preference?
I love the 64-66 trucks and grilles so much better.
Just curious?

Why can't some of these trucks be in the midwest,...

I was a little sad when you sold the Grey Goose but it went to a good place. I'm glad to here you still wanted to get a 63-66. I was thinking you didn't like us.

I'll admit the Pumpkin looks more appropriate for C10 royalty. Please don't let anybody talk you into selling this one for at least a little while longer this time. I can't wait to see what you got planned for it.:chevy:

Rich, I've really come to appreciate this body style, and after I sold the goose I immediately started to look for a replacement to no avail, like i said this truck is real nice but far from flawless and that's okay but it was the way it handled that turned me on, oh the 200 mile drive home was a kick in the pants!!!!

Yep, I agree on the paint upgrades. Just for fun I'd start with the side inserts and grill surround, then take a look before you do the top. It's a slightly less showy approach the factory used on occasion that could work well with this one (remember the grey goose?). You da man!

The tailgate had some peel and stick louvers at one time :puke: so the guy I got the truck from peeled them off and tried to paint the "Chevrolet" letters himself and unfortunately "Pablo Picasso" he's not  it's not very attractive, so I don't think Del will be breaking into his piggies.......yet.

Leevon, that same idea ran thru my mind when I removed the grill, but I'm stuck on white.

hmmm...not sure I knew that bit of factory info...my truck has the white side inserts & grille surround but solid black top...I've often thought of painting the top white someday.

I think that truck is actually red, but we can pretend it's orange. I saved pics of it a good while back myself, as it was the "poster child" for the look I was contemplating. This is the same truck without the hubcaps/trim rings:

Red or orange... it looks good.

Personally, and I'm not bashing the truck, but I like the first picture you posted of it. To me it has a killer orange tint to the color and would be my choice (vs. the red). :D
