Was bored outta my mind today so I decided to paint the box on my truck. I started with the tailgate and it turned out ok so decided to do the whole box. well I have to say while it makes my truck look better than before, my job isn't brilliant...but I guess it is a learning experience....tell me what u guys think...still have to paint the rest of the truck. im gonna leave the roof white.

Looks decent. Try long sweeping motions with about 40% overlap. Lays more even and gets good coverage. At the end of the sweep let go off the nozzle then move to the next row. Keeps build up from happening in edges.

Otherwise looks pretty good

It will probably look better once its wet sanded and polished. It looks like flat paint...thought it would shine better...i keep going outside and lookin at it...i wish i did a better job at it.

did you roll it? if not try that.. after about 3 coats it starts to look decent... also help to wet sand between coats.. this stuff orange peels like crazy.. this is mine.. i don't like shiny paint so i took some scotch bright too it.. looks much better IMO.

I painted my beater Honda flat black with spray cans. Worked on the prep for about 2 days and shot the paint on in a day. It turned out looking alright after about 3 medium coats and some sanding. Sold the Honda last year and the paint still looked alright even after 3 salt filled winters.

I think it depends on what you are looking to accomplish. If you want a more finished look, I would wet sand it. If you are just looking to prevent rusting, I would just leave it. just my 2 cents

that's actually why I did it. its just temporary until better can be done. it had some surface rust so I just wire brushed it and used rust remover and hit it with some primer. im just trying to curb the rust and kinda preserve the truck until I can get proper body work n paint. everyone likes how it looks so I guess its not too bad.

you do know that once you use this stuff it has to be taken back to bare metal before you can spray real paint on it..

yeah I know...i'll have it professionally painted next time around...i'll be getting a new box and panels for it though so no big deal. once I get my 5.3 in there and running i'll concentrate on the body. I just want it to look somewhat decent til that time comes.

i find some people can't tell/notice it's roll on tremclad even with my orange peel
no regrets i don't worry about it getting scratched

hood has some dew wipes...
and some thick paint
it does actually fill in cracks in the old paint, lines from stripes quite well
as it's so thick

There was an article in Hotrod a year or 2 ago. We sprayed my brother's 73 K5 roof with gloss black thinned with acetone. Its held up well.

It looks great. Does it look pro, not really but it doesn't look rusty either. I'm going to go the DIY route myself. I'm going to use rollers and wet sand between coats. I've seen some crap scuff and spray jobs that cost more than I will spend so if I'm going to end up with a less than show car job might as well DIY.

Plasti dip easiest way to describe it is peelable paint. Say for example I have in perfect condition rallies on my truck, but I want them red. Go out to your local Lowe's or Home Depot, wherever they sell the product you spray it on to your liking and then just let it dry.

Now if you get tired of the red you just take a small blade cut a little piece of that paint from the plasti dip and then you just pull it off. Might take a little while to take it off but it works. Supposed to be wash friendly and all that, I actually was told some guys went and bough some for there Jeeps that they went mudding and didn't want to clean there rims afterwards so they bought the plasti dip put it on there rims then when they were done just took it off and done.
