too much weathering on paint?
 

Hey dudes...my drivers bedside has been slowly deteriorating...not so much rust as just paint wearing off.

Unfortunately the same side door and fender had been repainted so the contrast was ugly. I cant afford a new paintjob right now as ive been buying c20 lowering parts but here it is.

I tried to match the hood, and cab and fender to the bed with black paint and green scotchbrite. Well is it too much?

Looks decent, but when paint fades as such. It will just follow it own path.

My neighbors truck which is a 73 C20 the hood is a basket case, but the rest of the truck is ok.

We used the similar affect using brake fluid as paint remover, Would lift the top coat and not so much the primer under neath. Paint remover was to harsh

Well it can be sanded off and buffed. I dont think it looks too ****ty lol

There are enough folks already thinking trucks suck without going after each other :mm:

Did a little more. Havent really touched the bedside. Its pretty much natural....cept for a very few small areas. Im still at the point that I can wetsand it all off and buff the red back out. Well see. I think my fender wnd door job still make the bed look like **** lol

Not trying to be a ahole .... but I wouldve just left it alone. I know your trying to match the bedside but it just looks like someone was just trying to hard or it got spray bombed by some kids.... other than that nice truck!!

My 1990 Suburban did exactly that. I ended up sanding it all of down to bare metal and starting over again. That most likely what you'll need to do if you ever want to repaint it and have it last.

I just can't wrap my head around why someone would be so upset that part of their paint was bad, that the only cure would be to wreck the rest of the paint...

I like it, but im also a patina/ fauxtina fan. i look at it like this. Its just a truck, have fun with it, smear paint on it. Make it yours and don't worry about what anyone thinks.
fwiw, by the pics it seems what you applied looks a little glossier than the patina on the bed.

I actually like it, buff it out to remove the fine marks left from the scotchbrite pad and it will look just fine. I'm a fan of the fauxtina and congrats for going against the grain and doing what makes you happy.

I think it looks cool! ...but I like the pantina look. I'd go back and try to rub out the scuff marks though because they make it kinda obvious what was done to the paint.

Took some more off the ds....and a small bit on the passenger. Think ill try to take off some more on the drivers bed and call her good. Cant wait till shes slammed
