Adams 67 K10 Build
I've followed this website for a few years now but the time has finally come to start my own build thread, this is my Canadian built 1967 K10 I bought a few weeks ago that I'm going to be restoring. It's a little rough but its exactly what I was looking for.
It has a 292 and a M20 4 speed manual Since it was built in Canada my brother got me the GM Canada vehicle information kit which I'll post here when I can scan it as well as some updated photos, the ones I've posted below are from when I went to look at the truck several weeks ago I'm going to be hopefully putting it back to the original 514 Red after I hopefully find a box without a warped floor and holes drilled everywhere on the bed rails https://i.imgur.com/eStHWAOh.jpg https://i.imgur.com/JZaLbv6h.jpg https://i.imgur.com/4pwXX0Fh.jpg Looking forward to everyones input Thanks Adam |

Re: Adams 67 K10 Build
Nice truck!!!
What is that massive wing nut on your driver side fender for? |
Re: Adams 67 K10 Build
I'm not really sure what that wing nut was for? I think the truck has had a fair amount of attachments at one point, the doors have holes for towing mirrors with little plastic plugs in them now that I'll have to fill before I paint it
If anyone has any thoughts on why that wing nut is there I'd really apprieciate it. I'm not sure if those inner fenders are original or not due to the finish, but then again underneath someone has painted everything gloss black which I'll have to go over at somepoint and clean up I've got the interior of the cab repainted in the original color, I'll post photos shortly - Adam |

Heres a picture of the updated interior colour, I painted the inside of the cab in 514 red which was the original colour the truck was painted in. The climate controls are hanging down because I got a bit of overspray on them by accident and need to clean it up before I reinstall it. I also painted the bezels on the dash cluster and glovebox in the shade of silver my first car was, a 2006 Impala since I had a spray bomb left over of that colour and thought it was a neat detail for my classic chevy. Does anyone have any advice for dying seat belts of buying new material for the original retractors and buckles? I'd really like to reuse the buckles and retractors since they're in great shape Thanks - Adam |
Re: Adams 67 K10 Build

Unfortunaltly I've put the truck in storage for the winter but will be doing my best to get more pictures for this thread of any work I do when I go check on it in my friends shed. |

Cool progress! Interior looks great keep the pics coming!

Re: Adams 67 K10 Build
Small update, painted my wheels white and picked up some tires this week, truck is getting some paint in April so I'm working on moving the fuel tank under the bed so I can fill the fuel filler on the cab in before paint

Re: Adams 67 K10 Build
welcome! nice K10!
I live across the river from Pt. Lambton, Ont. any updates? you might ask on the board about your seatbelts in the 67-72 board. |
Re: Adams 67 K10 Build
Thanks, the truck is currently in storage and I've been fixing up bits and pieces at home. It should be coming home once the weather warms up a bit more so I can get it ready for paint. I've ordered a blazer tank to mount under the bed which is the first big project I'd like to get accomplished before paint. I've got the steering column rebuilt and cracks on the steering wheel filled in and both are painted and reinstalled
I'll get some updated pictures next time I'm out to see it which may be later today. |
Re: Adams 67 K10 Build
I'm not 100% certain, but they don't look like original inner fenders. That wing nut looks like a grounding nut, for what I don't know.

Re: Adams 67 K10 Build
Its from GM Canada, any vehicle sold or built in Canada can have this package ordered about it, it also came with a big package of specifications and options that were available in 1967 which I've seen posted here a few times but is handy for reference.
Heres some info on it for anyone interested http://www.vintagevehicleservices.com/options.html |
Re: Adams 67 K10 Build
Bit of an update, pulled the bed of the truck today and managed to get it upside down on some saw horses so i can wirewheel the bottom and give it a nice coat of POR15 along with the frame while I've got easy access, I've also included a picture of the refinished steering wheel and painted steering column which I installed new bearings in. Will post more photos as I need to stop taking the truck apart and re assembling for paint which should all be happening within the month so I can drive and enjoy the truck this summer.
I've also ordered a blazer fuel tank which I'll hopefully be installing before I put the bed back on so I can trim the nessicary crossmembers and work on a fuel filler. Re: Adams 67 K10 Build
Awesome and welcome! That's a big job for a wire wheel! You have a plus over a lot of us already, your confident about painting.. :)

Re: Adams 67 K10 Build
So heres a nice update on the trucks progress, I've got the bottom of the bed wire wheeled and painted
http://i.imgur.com/TU2FP73.jpg Put a new coat of paint on the valve cover and new gasket, also got rid of the T shaped quick release fasteners that were holding it down, I also repainted the inner fenders and reinstalled them after sorting out a strategy to attach my fender badges that doesn't involve removing the inners again http://i.imgur.com/I5lacwP.jpg?1 And heres some better pictures of the exterior of the truck http://i.imgur.com/wq26FGl.jpg http://i.imgur.com/J2CBQxa.jpg http://i.imgur.com/y5qKMNq.jpg |

http://i.imgur.com/4VwRtOvl.jpg Truck is currently in the paint shop and I stopped by to get some updates pictures, the bed is primed and it mounted on the frame to figure out a fuel filler for the blazer tank then will be removed again for paint. Getting pretty excited to see it red and white - Adam |
Re: Adams 67 K10 Build
Looking good keep the pics coming. I would be interested in knowing where your getting it painted, looking for someone to do mine. PM me if you prefer.
Thanks Ken |
Re: Adams 67 K10 Build
Hi Ken, I'll keep posting some progress pictures for you as I go out there to check on it. I'm having South End Body in Goderich do it for me, was the best price and has been super helpful with different ideas I've had for the truck from different two tone combinations and figuring out a fuel filler for the rear mount tank.
That said they are booked pretty solid thru the summer from my understanding as I have a friend whos trying to get his Skylark painted and is having a hellova time trying to find someone to do it for the summer. - Adam |
Re: Adams 67 K10 Build
I like your truck, looks like it had very little rust.keep us updated with pics.

It's hard to find someone who will do body and paint on these old trucks. I'm not falling for the give us $10 grand and we'll let you know when that runs out and we need more mentality! :metal: |
Re: Adams 67 K10 Build
Small update on the truck, went out to check on paint progress and not much happening there in the past week unfortunately, but I did find a nice set of Western slot mag wheels that I picked up off Kijiji this weekend. The tires I bought for my other wheels won't fit so these will have to wait a bit before I work on getting them rolling on the truck. I'm thinking I may try and get some tires and a 2.5 inch Skyjacker lift kit this winter to have something to play with next spring.

Sweet wheels!

Re: Adams 67 K10 Build
Thanks! I've always wanted some slot mags and had to jump on this set, they've cleaned up really nice.

Re: Adams 67 K10 Build
Got some promising progress today on the truck, bed is painted and fuel filler inside the bed is fabbed up.
Shouldn't be long now til I have it back http://i.imgur.com/Z8YvIlbl.jpg http://i.imgur.com/gOxv9pol.jpg http://i.imgur.com/HrdZ1u3l.jpg |

Re: Adams 67 K10 Build
Looking good man!

Re: Adams 67 K10 Build
Thanks for the support everyone, hoping the rest of the truck is in primer by the end of the week. To pass the time I've been trying to decide between white headlight trim or stainless, I have a set of each so I can try both.
Looking forward to getting it back and getting to having some projects to work on. First big one is figuring out why the gas gauge won't work. I also bought some brand new 90's Dodge Dakota door weatherstripping to try out as well. |
Re: Adams 67 K10 Build
Went out and got some updates pictures this week with some white headlight housings that will match the roof and wheels. Fuel filler is filled in nice and truck should be in primer soon. I took a picture of the housing beside the bed to get an idea of how the final combo will look.

Nice progress! I've always like the red/white 67 paint combo... Wish I could do it on my truck!

Re: Adams 67 K10 Build
Nice!!!! Thanks for checking out my truck

Re: Adams 67 K10 Build
Lift kits for 67/68's aren't available right off the shelf. The springs aren't the same length as others. I added longer shackles in the front and an Add-a-leaf in the back of mine. I might also go with a zero rate spring if I want another inch.

Thanks for the information, I've seen 1967 K10 listed on the Skyjacker website but I now see the part #'s are the same that are listed for a 1969 K10. How much did you lift your 68? I'm mainly just doing this because I'd like a little more height on the front anyways. Thanks - Adam |
Re: Adams 67 K10 Build
I already had the HD front suspoension (1 extra leaf) and the shackle only helped 1" at the most, the rear is 1.5" without a bed on it... very stiff though.
Just make sure that you measure the leaf length in the front, I think the rear springs are longer than 69 and up. You can use blocks there though. |
Re: Adams 67 K10 Build
Thanks for the info, when I get the truck back I may look into a zero rate leaf block or an add-a-leaf for the front
