Long time no post. I sold the truck about a year ago and now have the chance to buy it back. It's pretty much the same, I'm looking for some help with the radio id like a new deck with door speakers and a sub behind the seat or on the seat?

Re: Project 77K10

Re: Project 77K10
So I bought this 77 gmc Sierra k15 Longbed for a project that I could still daily. All was going fine till a day ago. Had a blowout on the way to work. Which broke my passenger fender. After Getting all new tires from work I was on my way home and the broken fender let the hood rise a little and the wind caught it and brought it straight up. All while in big city traffic.

Re: Project 77K10
Don't know why my pics wont load, but went and picked up some parts today. A local guy near me was parting out a 77 jimmy so I went and picked up the front clip the steering gear box and a inside door handle and new hood hinges. So ill be finishing up painting parts and start reinstalling them tomorrow and by Tuesday should be able to drive her to work again. Any one be able to tell me why my pictures aren't loading.

Re: Project 77K10
You need another set or new hinges. I had the exact same issue.

Re: Project 77K10
Maybe you've already tried this. I found it doing a google search at the top of the page. Type something like adjust hood, click the 67-72chevytrucks.com circle, then Google. It pulls up threads in this forum that relate to your search.
This is one of the first things I do myself. I'm not sure who the "RELIABLE, KNOWLEGABLE BOARDMEMBER" is, but several threads mention this technique and its free if it works. FROM A RELIABLE, KNOWLEGABLE BOARDMEMBER "Open hood. Hold in open position. Have someone loosen the rear two hinge to fender bolts and loosen the front one just a tad. Push hood up till the hinges rotate backward a bit. Tighten rear bolts on both hinges. Check alignment as you lower hood. 99-100 times, this adjustment will lower the rear of your hood without having to replace anything. |
Re: Project 77K10
Just tried that and it didn't change anything I think it is the hood, is it unsafe to run it like that?

Re: Project 77K10
You did say that the latch engages. If it doesn't engage easily and hold it solidly the latch can be adjusted some. I'm no expert, but if it latches correctly I don't think the wind is likely to flip it up. Sticking up a bit in the back shouldn't be a safety issue.

Re: Project 77K10
So had my uncle come over help diagnose some issues my passenger side hub isn't tight, lots of play in the wheel. I need to either get longer threaded you bolts or washers on the ones I have, I need a upper ball joint and a raised steering arm
|
Re: Project 77K10
Alright so spent most the night yesterday working on the truck, found out the passenger side wheel wobble cause, the inner castle but with the nub was backwards and loose so took it out and regreased it reinstalled them both and now it's tight. My driver side ball joint was loose without a cotter pin tightened it now just need a cotter pin. And I picked up my raised steering arm and I'm fighting the acorn washers on the old one.

Re: Project 77K10
This Friday I should be picking up a new hood and doors to get rid of the thrashed doors and dented hood which I hope then all my panels and gaps will line up correct then ill just have to find a bed. Which is a pita.
