I just saw this so who knows how long the price will be that way but Jegs has the basic Goodwrench 350/260hp crate motors on special for $1208 with free shipping on Ebay, these are the ones with the 3 year 100k warranty available. Says "limited stock available"....

If you've been on the fence or hmming and hawing it might be a good chance to pick one up at the prices of a couple years ago....

Obviously I have no affiliation or benefit from any sales that happen, just spreading the word, search "jegs 10067353" to find them :chevy:

Ive used these motors in my 82 c20 build and the 72 Elcamino... they are great motors I think I paid about $1900 to the door for the first one and closer to $1500 for the second both well worth the money as the shop wanted way more to rework the old block

There-in lies the rub. The Jegs website is now up over $1500, but through their ebay store it is still $1208 as of this morning.

Shows 210 sold...that is a lot of motors

They may have done a bulk buy ....or GM could have an update coming

We have used some of these and the 290 hp version...they work well

But we get them from a Canadian GM dealer so we have warrantee

Last one we got was 1750.00 cdn

I just had one installed in my K10. I had issues reinstalling the stock headers and ended up buying an addition set from JEGs. They bolted right in. A great engine for a great price and comes with a good warranty.

Damn expensive surfing tonight as I had to go buy one for a spare. WOW $1208 for a brand new GM 4 bolt 350. I just last month spent $2500 at the machine shop having a 327 completely rebuilt.

When you start thinking about the time involved, just dropping the coin makes it a real viable option. I agree you can build more, cheaper; but there is a lot of leg work involved. Takes about one minute to click "buy it now" on the bay.

You cant build a short block (core, machine work, parts, build labor) for that price. good deal.. It seems like most rebuilders are offering that great warranty on most make engines any more. Good catch.

I'm looking to replace my v6 with a v8.. I have a 1986 stepper c10, can anyone tell me if this engine would be a direct fit.. If it does fit I want to jump on one before they go back up in price.. To get my v6 rebuild with labor is $2300.. So I might as well try and go with this..(the 350)

I read the description 85 and down .. Due to my smog I would need a 1986 and up.. Can anyone confirm this?

With an 86 here is what you are facing if I recall correctly, and take all of this with a grain of salt you should verify:

* I do not believe you get the full benefit of the 3yr/100k warranty putting it in a 1986. That level warranty only goes for the "direct fit" applications, ie cars and trucks that originally came with a 350 engine of the model years listed. I think if you stick it in anything else you get 12 months/12k miles, but I may be wrong on that (see warranty)

* The 1986 was the oddball year of engine. It has the top-end of the 85 down motors, but, it has the block/crank/flywheel with one piece rear main seal of the 1987-up engines.


I cannot guess at the smog laws where you are located, someone local to you may need to chime in on that or talk to someone at a testing shop would be my first guess... but if you are asking, can you buy the engine, rest it on the motor mounts and have everything bolt up from the wiring/fuel/transmission/mounts direction then the answer should be yes, BUT, you will need to replace the flywheel/etc due to the one piece rear main seal - your existing one is different.

Intake and carb? shouldn't be a problem and would bolt on.

Something important to note on the warranty. According the warranty doc it has to be installed "by a GM Dealer or qualified installing Independent Service Center (ISC)."

Technically by law your since engine is an 86 you have to install a model year 86 and above engine. (V8 or V6, doesn't matter. Just has to meet 1986 emissions)

just bought one for my 86 k10 at that price. was on the fence with doing a more powerful crate but this will give me what I need to replace the tired 305 and put some more money in the interior and rest of the truck.

My 290 HP crate motor in my 72 Malibu convertible was made in Mexico too and has over 40,000 trouble free miles on it .I wish it was made in USA but most things now days are not.
