Local NJ trucks
Was out and about local yesterday as a passenger in a friend's car. We were looking at cars for her son so I had my eyes open looking at vehicles in the local car lots and saw 3 67 - 72 trucks. At one car lot was a K20 long bed with a plow. Looked like it was recently painted. It had a GMC nose and a Chevy tailgate on the bed. It belonged to the car lot's owner. At another lot I saw the tail end of a bright orange or yellow truck. We didn't stop so I couldn't get a closer look. The third truck was another 4WD long bed with a 71 or 72 grill behind a house
What a day! Three classic Chevys within a 10 mile drive on Rt.46 in NJ. Paul |

Down the road from me is a green patina 69 or 70 that lays rocker. I drive mine around all over the place. Don't see too many for sale though. |
Re: Local NJ trucks
The local CL has several for sale.
This 69 long bed is pretty nice. http://newjersey.craigslist.org/cto/4282299583.html This 68 has blurry pics but it is a 4WD short bed http://newjersey.craigslist.org/cto/4283859346.html You want patina? This truck oozes it http://newjersey.craigslist.org/cto/4315189441.html This is a Longhorn. A buddy of mine checked it out and it has rust in the usual places: http://newjersey.craigslist.org/cto/4314252659.html This is a 65 panel: http://newjersey.craigslist.org/cto/4313307814.html A 71 Longhorn. Pretty cheap. I may look at it for parts. The grill looks nice. If I bring home another truck though my wife and neighbors will string me up: http://newjersey.craigslist.org/cto/4307019116.html Just last month there were 2 or 3 more. A buddy and I looked at a 70 4WD stepside with a 6 inch lift. Paul |

I did not realize there were this many people on this board in the NY / NJ area. I live in NY right by the Mahwah NJ / NY border.

I'm in Rockaway NJ. Every month I drive up to meet friends at the Shamrock Hotel. When I drive down 59 toward Spring Valley, I feel like on a different planet. Everything has changed!

Re: Local NJ trucks
I grew up in Montville and my dad and brother still run my fathers upholstery shop there after 60 years , I beat up and trashed more 67-72 4x4 trucks than they sold in Jersey in the late 60's to early 70's and he still has a few ...:chevy: Most everything has it's fair share of serious rust in Jersey !:chevy: The fastest cars in the county came from montville in the 70's

Willingboro checking in. Any one got a long fleet side bed for sale for parts? Finding a good bed on the east coast is like finding leprechaun riding a unicorn.

Re: Local NJ trucks
Moorestown here (51st stater). I drive my Ochre 71 C10 around the area, use it as a driver/hauler/boat tower, and I'm just getting started on my 1950 3100. Both came from west of the Continental Divide, AZ and OR respectively. Well worth the price of shipping and risk of buying sight unseen to get dry western trucks vs the rust buckets we have to choose from here.
I drove the 71 up to North Jersey a few weekends ago when we got that terrible rain and winced the whole way home, thinking it was the first time the thing had ever been touched by salt. I took it to the car wash immediately the next day and got the undercarriage special! Thanks for the heads up on that swap meet - I also try to go to E-town for their meets. No Carlisle but always some good finds there. |
Re: Local NJ trucks
I have a 67 K10 shortbed fleetside.

His name is Matt and his cell is 914-204-3423. Text and see if he still has it. He was asking $1600 which might be a bit steep, but maybe you can talk him down. If I find the ad, I will edit the post and paste the link. Found the Craigslist Link. He is actually in CT, which is why I had trouble finding it. http://nwct.craigslist.org/pts/4262790791.html |
Re: Local NJ trucks
I actually bought my 71 C10 somewhere in Southern NJ. Probably paid too much for it, or at least I thought so at the time after I saw all the hidden rust when I took it apart. It amazes me how they can look so nice while hiding so much rot.
Fithead: Thanks for the info on the swap meet. It's about a 2 hour drive, but I am always interested in seeing what stuff I can find locally. I usually head up to Rhinebeck each year in May and pick up some stuff. Do you think the Woodstown show is worth a 2 hour drive? MidLifer: E-town meets? Where and when are those? |

Re: Local NJ trucks

Re: Local NJ trucks
Sometimes you have to wonder how many vehicles for sale in NJ were involved in Hurricane Sandy and have hidden issues.

Re: Local NJ trucks
Nick here from Old Bridge N.J. , about 2.5 miles north of OLD BRIDGE Englishtown Raceway Park (E-Town)

Re: Local NJ trucks
Hey Sicklajoie, yeh man wonder. There was something like 650,000 damaged trucks and cars in the tri-states, New Jersey New York Connecticut, some 200,000 from Jersey alone . The insurance lots for the damage vehicles in N.J. were so full they had to bring something like 55,000 and use the parking lot of OLD BRIDGE Englishtown Racway Park. (E-Town). Any old vehicle which I hear not many, could be clean up if done right away (gut-ted) and saved , not like the new stuff with all the B-S in them. And yes car dealers got busted trying to sell damage ones, the used car dealer up the road from me for one got busted, who knows how many went were in the country.

|
Re: Local NJ trucks
I'm in for a meet. I'll have a ton of Suburban parts in the spring too, That is if the snow ever goes away. I went to visit my 70 4WD yesterday and just sat in it for a half hour. The 68 is covered in snow. Never got a chance to cover it.
