Wild C10 project
1 Attachment(s)
Hello everyone, I'm new to the site but have always referenced it. Last June I finally was able to purchase a 67' SWB fleetside c10. Someone had a decent start to it, but it really needed to be torn down to frame and start over. I met and commissioned a guy that is very knowledgable and does great work to help me on this project. He has previously built rides that have appeared at SEMA. The funny thing is how things and directions can change as you get further into it, and boy did they. Initially I was wanting a simple flat black paint job and keep the same drive line. When I bought it it was sporting a 400 small block, 700 R4 and 4 wheel disc brakes which I was fine with. He had some better ideas and glad I was open to them. He had in his procession a 2001 SWB chevy that was bagged that a customer didn't pay for, which after a while he was just given the title to. His idea was to use the frame and drive train under my body. Well after throwing ideas around we think we have come up with something that has never been attempted. Using the 2001 frame, cab but the doors skinned with 67' metal which it takes 4 to do this, chopping and raking the roof, suicide doors using back door hinges off a dodge truck which will open to 90 deg, flip forward hood, body-dropped and everything shaven. We also came up w a 5.7 LS1 w low miles which will be built. So it will at end be a 2001 chevy with a 67' body, 2001 roof, glass and interior. The 2001 interior will all be wrapped in leather w a Lamborghini style to it. We have full intentions of this project being at this years SEMA show. We will be posting pics of progress, which there will be intense metal fab done. I know some purists will hate it, but we wanted some very diff and we think this will sure be it. Thanks for looking.

Re: Wild C10 project
Welcome to the (post pics) forum. Sounds like you (post pics) have your work cut (post pics) out for you.
Beware of subliminal messaging. |
Re: Wild C10 project
Trying to get the cab positioned right right now, has to be moved back about 3" and notched out to clear the gas tank and frame.

Re: Wild C10 project
Should be an interesting build.
Do you have your SEMA connection solidified? |
Re: Wild C10 project
SUBSCRIBED , Dude that is awesome , when is SEMA , sounds like alot of work in a short time , should be killer ,. One thing that will be vastly different than a 67 will be the lack of road noise , and wind shear , should be awesome

Re: Wild C10 project
SEMA is usually first week of November

Re: Wild C10 project
The fab work on the cab has to be finished by the end of June and show up at a car show, then it will be solidified. A rendering will be done to show venders to hopefully get them involved along the way, it is just a hard one to come up with.

Re: Wild C10 project
Definitely going to follow along. Pretty wild idea. Can't wait to see it come together.

Re: Wild C10 project
With so many heaps available the purists may cane you for using such a nice truck but from one metal fabricator to another it sounds like a cool project. I wish you luck. One question though. Why the ls1? The 5.3 would have made the same power with a cam and a little head work. Cool truck..

Re: Wild C10 project
The lightweight block may offset some of the added weight of the extra sheetmetal! Lol

Re: Wild C10 project
I'm in, lots of pics required. This will be very interesting watching a new cab being transformed.

Re: Wild C10 project
Subscribed! but i'd be inclined to keep that black truck whole and start with a project truck myself because i have never had a truck that looked that nice.

Re: Wild C10 project
I'm usually a purist as I believe our trucks were just perfect as designed but, this sounds neat. Kind of a late model paying tribute to its early model brother. Best of luck and can't wait to see it finished.
