Project "Sleezy" 72 Highlander

5 Attachment(s)
Hello my fellow C10'ers! I wanted to share my current project/build. It is definitely not as in depth and awesome as most on here but its what I have to work with!

Some of you guys may remember when I first purchased the truck back in January and posted it here on the forums. She is a beauty in her all original "stock" form but, I just cant leave well enough alone  The truck (as most of you can probably tell) is a 72 C10 Highlander that is well optioned according to the SPID. I purchased the truck from the original family with only 70k original miles. From what I can tell, she is approx. 95% rust free. The rockers, cab corners, floor pan etc. are all pristine.

So with all that being said, here are my plans for the truck. I decided to go with my better judgment, along with the feedback from you guys here on the forum, and only stick with bolt ons and items that can be reversed back to stock if need be. I may still catch some slack from some of you "Die Hard" original classic truck guys out there, but there is just something about an original patina'd truck that's lowered on some nice wheels. However, she is too pretty and original to hack up beyond repair. I have been accumulating parts since I purchased the truck back in January so I have amassed quite an inventory of goodies. Here's what I have so far:

-CPP Modular Grand Slam kit 3/4 drop
-CPP Front and Rear disc brakes with drilled and slotted rotors
-Detroit Steel Wheel Co. 20" Smoothies
-Yokohama tires
-Oem replacement upper and lower control arms

That's about it for parts at the moment. I'm sure there are a few parts that I am forgetting. I have already started the process of removing the original steering, suspension, and brakes. All of this has been completed as of 1-2 months ago when I got lazy while waiting for parts (could have used my spare time elsewhere on the truck). :waah: So, enough typing and more showing pics...

I think the truck looks great. Very solid foundation you got. Don't get discouraged by lack of views. Keep plugging away. Trevor

I hope to get it on the road later this year. I have had it for 20 years and last drove it in 99 I think. The body is in excellent condition.

I had them built by Detroit Steel Wheel Co..They are quite a bit cheaper than Centerline's smoothie, mainly because these are steel obviously.

:dum:I know nothing about cars & trucks, but I like your Sleezy.

Husband's YG7 (also a lowly long bed) with avocado plaid was originally ordered in "Medium Green", and was…unique.
I imagine the old farmer proudly driving home in his brand new truck, just to get an earful of his wife's opinion of the color combo. Your original owner made a better choice.

Is there any regional factor to the desirability of Highlanders, and how they are done and re-done? In other words, are there stereotypical, noticeable preferences based on geography? or is it just a matter of different tastes for different guys?

Nice! I wish I could have ordered one new, however, I was born a little too late for the 72 (13 years ). I have yet to see another Highlander in person, especially around here. I honestly didn't even know what a Highlander was until I bought the truck and did all of the research

Installed the CPP rear big brake kit. I hope its installed correctly, CPP's instructions were quite vague/non existent. Now I just have to hook up the parking brakes and wait for my front to rear SS brake lines :metal:

Also installed a wheel to make sure everything had plenty of clearance. There should be a lot less gap once the truck is on the ground, hopefully.

I see two in blocks in your future. What are the specs on the wheels and tires?
