1985 K/20 Scottsdale 33k original miles

I picked this truck up last weekend. 1985 K/20 with 33k original miles. I flew in and drove it home 531 miles without any problems. It's 100% factory original paint, no rust. It's kind of oddly optioned, full power, tilt, cruise ac, but doesn't have dual gas tanks.

Daym that's nice !!

Where did you find that ? (it's too nice to drive ) That is a new truck , and if you paid less than "new truck price" - you stole it !!

Believe it or not it was on eBay. It had only been listed for a few hours and had a reasonable buy it now price. So I called and asked what it took to buy it right now over the phone, and he gave me an even better price, so I bought it right on the spot! 4 days later I flew to get it and drove it home

It had running boards on it when I bought it, and some cheap tow hooks. I removed those the day after I got it. I took this pic on the drive home

Beautiful truck.
Power windows and a tilt wheel, in a Scottsdale, must be rare!

We always ordered the Scottsdale package so we could get manual windows, manual locks and the full vinyl flooring, but opt up to the better side trim and grille for the Silverado-esque appearance.

Nice as usual.

Quick question, how do you go about convincing a seller 530 miles away that you're serious and are willing to fly out to buy it?

I think you tell him "...I'm serious and am willing to fly out to buy it."

I had that coming I guess.

My question was based on how skittish sellers are nowadays. I have hard times convincing Craigslist sellers that I'm serious about buying their $20 used parts before even while asking for their address letting them know that I was on the way.

Understood.

We are just giving you a hard time. The seller was able to take a deposit from me right away, so that's what I did. Now as far as Craigslist people go.....:crazy::crazy::crazy: lol

Cool truck. Nice find.

My 85 Silverado looks to be optioned the same other than mine having carpet. I do like the black door dent strip on yours more than the chrome one that was on mine. I guess my truck is more of a Scottsdale than a Silverado now as I ditched the carpet in favor of a black rubber mat and also removed the side molding.

I used it to help a friend move a trailer yesterday. I only moved it to a different part of his property.

Wow, what a great find!

Even considering the extremely low miles, I can't believe the quality of the original paint and lack of rust on this one for being an IL truck.

Any history on it? One owner?

Re: 1985 K/20 Scottsdale 33k original miles

It was a 1 owner truck. I have a copy of the original title when it was bought new with 7 miles on it. In 1989, with 23k miles on it, thèy took it to their Florida home, where it spent most of the rest of the time they owned it.
The truck is completely rust free. The original paint, although low 1985 quality, is in amazing condition.

The history on this truck reads like an epic barn find.

Updated pics looks great. Like the NOS bumper guards and cleaned up OG paint.

I recently joined this great forum and saw a few of your awesome threads. You seem to have a niche or patience to find all of these great trucks!

I have a soft spot for original paint and NOS parts. After spending years messing with old Jeeps, it's obvious that OG paint vehicles and NOS parts are getting more and more difficult to find. Assuming these trucks are similar, in that most have lived a hard life - which makes finding a low mile original paint even more rewarding.

Really enjoying reading through this forum and will hopefully find a nice clean pick-up soon. Gonna try to exercise patience to find the 'right' one.

Mark, I got a pretty good deal on them. They are Transforce AT, very close to the Bridgestone's 773's, but a few hundred cheaper. They are LT 265/75/16, same height as the 235/85/16's but a touch wider.
