Replacement seats???
Greetings, Has anyone installed either of these seats?
http://www.discountvantruck.com/truc...ReyLowback.htm http://www.discountvantruck.com/truc...canLowback.htm Or any other suggestions??? Thanks for all replies Phil |
Re: Replacement seats???
Subscribed.
I'm in the market for a seat option. My project currently has none. I don't like the look of the 99-06 chevy truck seats people put in. I've looked at other low back seats, but all would require custom mounts/tracks etc. |
Re: Replacement seats???
I haven't, but really like the looks of that second one you linked to...
|
Re: Replacement seats???
I am running a very similar seat to the second. The Scat Pro 90 Lowback is quite similar in shape & appearance.
Scat also offers either a 1 piece frame or individual to mount them either way. They also of course have sliders as well. See my build thread for pics. Shane |
Re: Replacement seats???
I got these last year and I'm happy with them. I purchased them in black vinyl. They even had a special back then for free shipping.

Re: Replacement seats???
I like those Jay
And really the price looks like a lot but when you price materials just for a recover I think I'm leaning towards one like Jays Are you short tall heavy thin? How well do you fit? |
Re: Replacement seats???
I was going to put in a 88-98 seat in my truck (due to my height) until I scored my buddy buckets.
I'm normally not a huge fan of modern seats in our trucks but I really like those Jay. How are they for room? Comfortable? |

Re: Replacement seats???
Jay is that seat 3 pieces bolted to the frame that is made for the truck that they supply?
I just ordered some material samples that is a less expensive option than the other place with links just wish it wasn't in california so I wouldn't have to pay tax |

Miley those are nice seats but to cramped for me.
|
Re: Replacement seats???
Thanks Jayschevy, I sent off for some sample vinyl. They also carry the same seat in my link above for quite a bit less, but I like the looks of the seat you installed. Thanks

Thanks all for the suggestions. Thought I'd post a photo of the before and after interior. The before was really good for original but not very comfortable. Thanks Jayschevy your seat installation sold me.

Re: Replacement seats???
Subscribed. Nice seats.
|
Re: Replacement seats???
Those look great! They don't require gas tank relocation, do they?
|
Re: Replacement seats???
Thanks, I scanned through your build thread, looks like you're about ready for seats. That will be a nice truck when you're done.
|
Re: Replacement seats???
CastIron, they bolted right in. Much more comfortable than the stock seat.
|
Re: Replacement seats???
So what was the turnaround time? And exactly which seat did you go with?
|
Re: Replacement seats???
This is the seat I bought:
http://shop4seats.com/truck-seats/40...uck-seats.html It took about 6 weeks to get them. They came with a different console than what is in the ad. I wasn't sure at first but the cup holders and storage is nice. |

They have the exact same seats as the ones listed on the site. Did you have to reuse anything or did it come with all the necessary brackets? Did you have to alter anything to get those to fit? I'm over the search for the elusive original buddy buckets and I think I'm going to go this route |
Re: Replacement seats???
10 drum what is your steering wheel from
your new seats look realy nice |
Re: Replacement seats???
They are the same, but I think they are a couple of hundred less. They came with two brackets that bolt to the existing nuts in the floor, there is a frame that sets on top of the brackets, and then the seats and console individually bolt to the frame, It was very easy. There isn't a lot adjustment for seat position. I set the back at the angle I liked and then pushed the seat as far back as it would go. I'm 6' 1" and 175 lbs and it is very comfortable for me. I would like to be able to move the seat another inch back but the the rear of the cab and tank prevents that.

Re: Replacement seats???
67chevelle the steering wheel is original. The horn button and wheel did not fade the same.

Re: Replacement seats???
I removed my '67 GMC's bench seat, mostly because the springs were wasted. The seat cover still looked great, but my back side was bouncing off the speaker box under the seat.
Going off an idea a friend did with his '52 Suburban, I found a really nice pair of leather buckets from a 2000 Pontiac Montana at the salvage yard. I removed the air bag sensors and grabbed a pair non power seat tracks from the same era Chevy Venture. Total cost was $65. http://i98.photobucket.com/albums/l2...ps2c591a1e.jpg I am going to remove the headrests. Don't like them. I have to pull the seats out of the truck to do it. http://i98.photobucket.com/albums/l2...psda59bf6f.jpg |

found these for$40. going to try and make them work this weekend.

Re: Replacement seats???
10drum,
Looks awesome! Can you post a few pics of the center console? Are there 2 storage compartments? The obvious fold-down compartment, and another compartment under the seat? Just trying to get a better idea before I commit. The website's descriptions aren't much help. Thanks! |

Vinny_JP, Here's some photos. The console isn't like what was displayed on the shop4seats web sight. I was a little disappointed at first until installed it. I emailed them and they said that the console has been changed and they had not updated the web sight. They offered to refund and/or exchange, but I liked the seat and console and decided to keep it as is, beside it will be in the down position 99% of the time anyway and the extra cup holders and storage on the top is nice.
Scott, those seats fit nice. I had a 69 Ford F100 (I couldn't afford a C-10) back in the 70's and 80's and I installed seats from an LTD in it, but I never liked the way the back stuck up in the rear window and I just couldn't do that with this truck. |
Re: Replacement seats???
Are this cup holders deep enough to hold anything?
|
Re: Replacement seats???
Not really, they'd hold a coffee cup ok, but I'd be careful turning very sharp if there was a soda can in there
|
Re: Replacement seats???
Thanks for the info and pics! Absolutely beautiful truck.
I'm sold. Now, if they could only make the cup holders normal depth... |
Re: Replacement seats???
Vinny, The plastic top is just screwed to a piece of plywood, if you are careful with the right size hole saw, deep cups could be installed. I don't really like the hard plastic top, so I may modify it somehow. I'm going to check to see if I can get some of the vinyl from the vender and make padded armrests. Thanks for the compliment, I drove that 69 F100 for over 15 years and 150,000+ miles, it was one of the best vehicles I ever owned, I sold it for more than what I paid for it, but all I ever wanted was a '67 to '72 C-10. I saw this one and had to buy it.

Re: Replacement seats???
Well I just may have to do that. I'll see how many spilled cups of coffee it will take before I take some sort of action. If you do make any mods, be sure to share!
Glad to hear you finally got the truck you've always wanted! What a neat story. Sure is a great looking ride. Thanks for sharing your project with us! |
