Re: 68c10/c6
We're going to debut this at SEMA this year I'll post more pics the closer we are to completion I'll just say it's getting all the electronics the Vette had in it! Basically we skinned the Vette and fitted it with a 68 c10 body

Drifters, nice trucks! The C10 Vette is very cool. Are you building a Suburban?

I do it's actually on the back burner it's a 52 but I'm doing a 52 p/u first and a 72c50 next it'll be built into a crewcab with duel rears and a 6.6duramax/ Allison! I like seeing people's projects and yours looks like a cool build? I'll be following it.Attachment 1344510

Re: 68c10/c6
I like the build part! Most of my projects get sold. It helps having employees.
|
Re: 68c10/c6
I do remember the 32 p/u, but I remember him working on a 33/34 roadster? But it has been 8/10 years since he moved. How's he doing? And what ever happen to the 55/56 he painted red? He told he how he ran a run down the door and just cut it off the bottom edge. How is he doing?
|
Re: 68c10/c6
He passed away back in Sept. 08 he left me the truck and I restored it in his honor!

Re: 68c10/c6
Drifters,
Do you have any pic of chassis before stuff was bolted on? |
Re: 68c10/c6
I don't yet because I built the chassis around the suspension & drivetrain thus it hasn't been broke down yet I pulled the cab to finish the firewall & trans tunnel so I'll take some more pics! I'm going to post some cab sheet metal pics as well!

The firewalls almost done!Except for some holes to fill! I wanted this to look as factory as possible we had to recess the firewall 3.5 inches for the engine to clear and in order to make the Corvette pedals & steering column work we needed to build out the master cyl/ booster area as well as a mounting point for the column boot!Attachment 1346591

Re: 68c10/c6
Good looking work Drifters!

I've got the Vette column & pedal assembly mounted now I need to work on making the Vette instrument cluster work with the 68c10 bezel. We'll have one built!

Nice work!
|
Re: 68c10/c6
Yeah that is art...nice! Is the tail of the original frame attached to the new frame?
|
Re: 68c10/c6
No it's all new I used the front frame horns for bumper placement but that's it!

This is a fame shot of the right front transition from the 3x6 front to the 2x6 center section! I opted not to go 3x6 all the way to save weight.

Re: 68c10/c6
Nice! Looks packaged very well! Where do the A/C lines run into the cab?
|
Re: 68c10/c6
They'll run into the passenger side of the firewall I'm just waiting for the A/C unit & bulkhead to arrive! I'm starting the inner wheel tubs now.

Thank you shadow1967 and your p/u is coming along very nice great work!

Re: 68c10/c6
Drifters, interesting challenge. Hopefully you wil show how you merge them together. Looks pretty cool!
|
Re: 68c10/c6
Thanks AD! I'll post pics as I go. I'm trying to really use all the Vette parts as I can! With the exception of a few custom parts I want to be able to get parts from GM I mean they spent millions on R&D why reinvent the wheel!

Seem great minds think alike, I installed a Jag center console in a 67 pickup, here's during mock-up...Jim
|
Re: 68c10/c6
Nice job Jim! It's not easy finding a newer console to flow with the older dashes.
