Pro-Touring 67 C10 project with all the go fast goodies!

I have had this project in the works for awhile now. Pace is picking up on it so I thought I would start posting on it. Truck was started at another shop and was going no where fast. Customer had bought some parts off me and stopped by the shop one day and one thing led to another and so he loaded it up and brought it to me. Pictures are a little out of order, since the cab is the most current part I am working on, so I will fill in the rest of the story as I post the pics.

When I got the truck the cab was already body worked and in rust defender and appeared to be close to ready for paint. After inspection I noticed a lot of small issues and decided to have it blasted. that opened up a can of worms.

Firewall had been smoothed, but the ground thru all the welds and sheetmetal in the process.

http://i1309.photobucket.com/albums/...pstbzkequ1.jpg

Floor had patch upon patch on it and the rockers were installed wrong so I decided to yank it all out and start over. This is what I was left with.

http://i1309.photobucket.com/albums/...pslz5q5big.jpg

Installed new floor, firewall, and upper cowl. Since the customer did not want to run wipers, I left the inner cowl out for more real estate, You will understand why once I starting mounting components under the dash

With all the bad fixed, we can now start on the good stuff. Customer wanted a smooth firewall so I decided to shorten it up and make it truly smooth. So it would not be boring to look at, I beadrolled the firewall to give it some personality.

I will start final welding the firewall in tomorrow and start making new inner kick panels to finish out the sheetmetal on the front. Stay tuned for my next installment.

Where did you get the cowl? Did you fab the firewall 100%? or just bead roll it?

the upper cowl is reproduced. Firewall is 100% fabricated and yes it is bead rolled.

Recaros came in today. I absolutely love these seats. Also got the cab wrapped up enough to put it back on the chassis so i will have some more pics in the next few days and update where we are at with the rest of the truck.

Got the cab back on the chassis today. You will notice in the pic the heart of this beast, one kandy painted LSX454 backed up by a 6 speed Magnum trans. Front suspension is currently CPP dropped spindles, CPP arms, and all rides on airbags. I hope to be able to upgrade the suspension since this was already done when we got the project and really isn't adequate for what I have planned for the rest of the truck. I start mocking up the under dash components tomorrow.

More updates. Customer did not want wipers so I did away with the wipers completely and also the wiper cowl are for more real estate under the dash. I bead rolled a panel and welded it in. No one will ever see it but I know its there.

Another modification we made to the cowl area. This is the before:

And this is the after:

Also got in the rest of the audio equipment for the truck. Only the best being used.

Re: Pro-Touring 67 C10 project with all the go fast goodies!

More progress. Fabbed up the kick panels, got the right side POR15'd, dynamat, and dynalined before it was all welded in place. Sound quality is crucial so it was much easier to install while I had it all apart. Also fabbed up a firewall support for the vintage air and mounted it as high as I could. Got the right side and va support welded in a will weld in the left side in the morning. After that its on to the pedal and steering column mounts.
