Back in a Square

It's been 15 years but I'm finally back in a square body. I picked up this all original '86 Wednesday. It's not perfect but it's in really good shape for the years it's seen. It's going to be my daily drive so it doesn't need to be perfect. It has all the options and everything works. Even the clock. I couldn't be happier, I've really enjoyed driving it.

Very nice!

That's what new trucks should look like, instead of big rig wannabes, with hoods that block out 30 feet of the road, and bed floors up at chest level.

That is beautiful truck. I would rather drive that than a new one if you can keep it reliable. Nice find!

Now that is a nice truck!

Only suggestion I have, register it as a classic ($22) and throw these awesome 1986 plates on it.

I'll have to look into that. I was so ready to get it on the road I didn't even think about that.

Thanks

I had a 2011 Duramax, loved it but I really wanted to get back into a square. When we sold our camper we traded the Duramax in on a SUV for the wife and I went shopping.

Cool. From your screen name and profile pic, I'm guessing you've got a sweet Grand National too!

Had. I had one for 14 years and loved it but felt it was time to move on. I missed the chevy v-8 and can't afford a stable so I sold it. I miss the turbo so my goal with the truck is to eventually add one.

So far, everything seems to be original except things like water pump, radiator and things like that. The pad looks original with one crack in the ps speaker hole. It was garage kept for the last 20 years and she put 14K miles on it in that 20 years.

I feel I got lucky. The truck was 700 miles away and I tried to get HD pictures but she wasn't tech savvy. I took a chance based off of what she told me and I was not disappointed.

Tommy, I hear you with "can't afford a stable". I've got that problem too.

Good luck with the turbo on the truck!

Nice truck...and I second the idea on the year plates. I found a nice set of '85 plates for my Suburban. I believe that there are two ways to register as a classic. If you plan to drive it a lot, you can get the inspection done and since there's no inspection decal as of the first of this month to over clutter the windshield, it's a nice option.

Very nice truck! I just looked at one this week with the same exterior but gray interior. I should have bought it.

It will be my primary ride. I car pool so that only makes 7 days a month to work without overtime days.

I originally only wanted the gray but then decided other colors added some color to the combo. I take it the truck you looked at is gone.
