Home after new paint and buffed out!
 

I got it home last night. The painter wanted a week to cut and buff it and of course that was 3 weeks ago. Does anyone know a paint shop that actually does what they say they will??? Anyways I am glad to have it home and I have LOTS of work to get it all together. I am excited just to have it back and get to tinker a little. Paint color is original Dark Blue Poly. PPG Base coat/Clear coat. The guy did a great job! Here is before...

Wow, that is shinny! I'm jealous! I wish my Blazer looked that nice.

Looks awesome!!! great color. What years were that color available? I always wanted to do a blue truck. Do you know if it was available in 72?

The code for 1970 Dark Blue is 2167 and the code for 1972 Dark Blue is 2366. I think that the colors would look a little different since the code is different you can look here at the different codes and paint chips

I am really not as wide as that reflection makes me look:D I put on a few side marker lights and trying to do the tailight setups too. Those taillight bezels look like they are gonna be fun. We are taking it to get it Line-Xed next week. I'm gonna have a fun weekend putting it together!:cool:

My husband Ken did the floorboards and we bought new fenders, doors, and rockers, butThe paint guy did alot of finish body work- and did the paint and cut and buffed it out all for $1500.00. It seems like a lot of money, but I think it was money well spent! I love it. I got the sidemarker lights and taillights on last night...this baby is gonna look SWWWWWWEEEEEEEEEEETTT!!!

In terms of what paint and body work goes for, that price is not too bad at all.

I've got some friends who have a bodyshop. They are known for their restorations. I think you got a great deal at that price.

Even though you did a lot of work yourself, 1500 is not a bad deal at all for what you got. That's probably about half of what it would have cost.

The Line-X dealer in Chico Calif totally distroyed a new $45,000 truck I trusted them with. The guy who ran the shop...David Pierce... didn't hardly prep or sand anything. He hust blobbed it on and it looked like CRAP:barf: . Then within a few months, it chipped, pealed and discolored! Line X has a "lifetime" (limited) guaranty.
That means , in Line-x's terms, when your Line-X fails, Its life is OVER, thus, NO WARRANTY! PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE... Don't do it!!! I can't let you make the same $500 mistake I did! Trust me, Line-X sucks. If you like, call the Main Co and tell them I said that they suck! Ther refused to stand behind their product!
I ended up putting a Plastic Bedliner in and trading the truck in in the dark!

Phillip- I want to use rattleguard or something we can do at home, but I can't talk my husband out of Line-x. I just wanted to save some money...you are the first guy I have heard bad thing about line-x from. I went to the line-x dealer in Olympia and they told me they wouldn't do the truck until I had it sandblasted, but I can't get it sandblasted since the paint is so new. (I think sandblasting would scratch up that new paint no matter how careful they were) Then Ken (my hubby) went to a line-x place about 30 miles away and they said they could do it w/out sandblasting so he wants to take it there. I am a little worried it won't last and these guys aren't doing right they just want the $$! I will keep working on him and show him your post. Sorry so long winded!;)

The paint looks great! Those pics have inspired me even more on my blazer! I am trying to do everything by myself...just takes me a lot longer:( Hopefully you have it all put together when my dad comes by to pick up parts....I'll have him take lots of pictures! Keep up the good work and keep the progress pics coming!

Onpman- Hey there! good to hear from you! You must be working too hard on that blazer, 'cause I haven't seen you in a while;) I'll keep posting pics of my progress- I'm having fun this weekend tinkering with my "shiny" blaze!! I am impressed that you are doing the work yourself...it will be well worth it!

That is so beautiful! I'm speechless.

Got the taillights, bezels and sidemarker lights in....boy this stuff takes a while! I enjoy it, but sure can't get enough time to do it! I am hoping this weekend to get to do more stuff. I decieded to just POR and sound deaden the interior instead of Line-x- long story, but I hope it will keep out the rust and sound nice and tight! Thanks for all the compliments!!
