Being jerked around by Patricks
Man I'm getting shafted here with my order. Was placed 8 weeks ago and it still has not shipped. 1 week into the order i was told the camshaft was holding it up from being sent out but they would see it later that week. Another 2 weeks come and go and they say again the camshaft is a few days away, and same thing happens again and again and again every week.
So i canceled the camshaft directly with Patrick from the order and they claim they have all the other parts i ordered waiting to be shipped and it will go out that day...........a week later and still nothing. This is BS. Going to have to start using Jim Carter. Just venting. |
Re: Being jerked around by Patricks
click the forums button and look for the section on vendor comments too.

Re: Being jerked around by Patricks
Good to know. Thanks

Re: Being jerked around by Patricks
Just talked to Patrick again 2 min ago and it looks like my order is still not shipped as promised 10 days ago. Oh he promises it will go today................ 8 weeks after the original order date.

Re: Being jerked around by Patricks
Sorry your order is taking so long. I had a long wait for some Fenton manifolds for my GMC 270 from him. The story is pretty much the same for lots of folks. Tell you it will ship tomorrow, take your money and make you wait. It's a well known story too for him. Bad way to do business, unfortunately, because he knows a lot about the old Chevys and GMCs, and seems to be a pretty nice guy otherwise. Good luck. jim

Re: Being jerked around by Patricks
It just takes them a long time to find the parts from other vendors..........

Re: Being jerked around by Patricks
WOW, that sucks..

Re: Being jerked around by Patricks
Well in all fairness I ordered some parts from Patrick's and I received everything I ordered however there was some confusion on a 261 stock cam that I purchased for my 235. It came in a box from Engine Pro MC293 and when I was trying to look up the specs I was coming up with nothing. I called Patrick's and they sent me specs of something from the Cam Doctors analysis and they were not sure of the box that they sent me but assured me it was a stock 261 cam. I myself am confused of what I actually got and the manufacturer. Bottom line my motor ran fine upon start up and still runs good. I do not know if its a 235 or 261 cam but I am leaving it alone. so I am happy. The invoices are hand written and sometimes hard to read and one thing as far as my experience they have been super nice to me and have a world of knowledge but their info sheets that have been copied over copies are sometimes very hard to read and some of them I just can not read because of the bad quality and I just have to figure it out. Other than that my experience have not been bad.
Now a friend of mine from Germany actually took a visit to Patrick's and he had some bad experiences. First he ordered a Fenton intake and exhaust manifolds. The intake manifold on one of the ports was not casted very well and had a hole into it. He welded it so not a big problem. Secondly he placed an order for a heat plate that he said he never received. I had one from Patrick's I did not use and sent him mine. he had ordered some other parts and never received them so he is upset set and got the run around. http://i1291.photobucket.com/albums/...psf1k9361b.jpg |
Re: Being jerked around by Patricks
I take it the parts are hard to find elsewhere so you feel you have to put up w/ bad service?
If you paid by CC, you may not even be able to dispute the charge at this point. If the parts are available elsewhere, call and cancel right now. |
Re: Being jerked around by Patricks
18 yrs ago or so when I built a hopped up 235 it was a hassle getting them to ship the parts, not to mention they refused to sell me the cam I wanted (wanted the hot cam and would only sell me the mild cam. I was stuck since I didn't know anyone else selling cams for the 235). They then shipped a cam with the wrong bearing journal size to what I ordered. That was a fun one to get exchanged even though they messed it up. Since then I refused to give them any more of my business.

Re: Being jerked around by Patricks
The day I placed my order they said all items were in stock and the order was going to be shipped the next day. I only placed the order because his son said he had the cam in his hand as was reading the specs off the box to me as we talked, so i figured now is the time to place the order.
I waited a week or so to get a confirmation number for my order but when nothing came in a email i called. I then was told they had everything but the cam. So now im thinking his son was lying about actually holding one and telling me that's the one that i can get. They then tell me the new cam is 2 weeks away. I wait and wait and wait. By this time im pissed and want a cam. I call delta as im told that that's who makes his cams anyways and they make me one from scratch for less $ and get it to my door in 5 days to Canada I sent 7 emails asking to remove the cam from my order and send the rest of the items they claim to have sitting in a box ready for the cam to arrive. I wait longer, i call back, Its the same conversation again, they tell me the cam is going to arrive shortly. BUT I TOLD HIM DIRECTLY LAST TIME TO CANCEL IT. SO HE HAS SOME SORT OF MEMORY ISSUE AND SAYS HE WILL SHIP IT RIGHT AWAY WITHOUT THE CAM. Im going to copy past this from above 2 more times because it happened again and again NO JOKE! I honestly think im not going to ever see any parts from them. They charged my visa the $600 within minutes of placing the original order. |
Re: Being jerked around by Patricks
Call visa and kill the transaction, they are banking on you going past the refund date.

Re: Being jerked around by Patricks
I am finally nearing the finish on a 2 year AD project I've been doing with a small, one man shop. I get to work hands-on, so it's been a real education. For the most part, things worked out, but often we ended up fabricating/engineering things after being frustrated with poor customer service & tech support.
For AD & Task force parts, I think it is best to stay with the well-known vendors - Jim Carter, LMC, Brothers, Chevys of the 40's, Mar-K and a few more. ... For general mechanical stuff, I stay with Summit, Jegs, Speedway, Master Power Brakes and some others. You'll get your stuff on time and get some decent advice. We also found several excellent smaller vendors like Gayle Bridges, Alan Grove & others. It's a constant discovery process...whenever you can, get several solid references. If doing your research on the internet/forums - talk to the people directly who are posting about their experiences. The internet has it's limitations as a research tool - nothing beats "face time", either in person or over the phone. My 49 AD build thread http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s...d.php?t=660718 |
Re: Being jerked around by Patricks
I was under the assumption the he was a well known vendor by how many people refer him.
|
Re: Being jerked around by Patricks
Tomorrow is his last chance. If the goods were not shipped on Friday afternoon as he promised I will start doing everything I can to stop payment.
Im sure glad i never went full out and ordered a bunch of things to start rebuilding my 261 from him also. |
Re: Being jerked around by Patricks
We used a lot of stuff from Patrick on the '54 we're building right now. First we ordered the re-gear kit for the stock rear end. It showed up complete and in a timely fashion.
At this point we're waiting on the Fenton exhaust and the dual carb manifold. Both myself and the customer have been dealing with both Patrick and Phillip, his son. We've gotten the "should ship tomorrow" crap 3 times now. This last time was just this past Friday when he told the customer the parts would ship "today". We're to the point that the rest of the truck is done and all that's left is the engine stuff and hang the front end. I haven't wanted to bend over the front fenders to install the manifolds, etc, but if it takes another week, I'll start hanging parts and just pad them good to do the engine work. |
Re: Being jerked around by Patricks
Found out today I can get my visa to apparently refund me the money at any time as I have yet to receive a product and they will penalize him.
Gave him another call this morning and guess what........................... take a guess......................it never went out on Friday like he ever so dearly said it would. I never lost my cool but i told him this is not right and it feels like im being scammed because he has my paid for product and is always coming up with reasons to not ship it. Right after saying that he goes dead silent and asks me to please hold on. Sounds like he took a seat and he started to tell me he was busy and doing what he can. Again he said it would go out today and he would call me with the tracking number. Don't know why i gave him the chance but i did. I will be amazed if it happens and i have a feeling i will be calling VISA tomorrow to make the retract payment official. |
Re: Being jerked around by Patricks
Is Patrick the only one that has the parts you need for your truck ?
|
Re: Being jerked around by Patricks
No I can get them some where else I guess. he never did follow thru today as he indicated he would.
|
Re: Being jerked around by Patricks
Stop payment and go else ware!

Re: Being jerked around by Patricks
Wolffcub...
I don't get into internet business bashing because it's impossible to know both sides of the story. But I will pass along advice learned the hard way: If you feel you're being taken advantage of then you probably are. This has gone on, over and over, for a long time. Cancel the order. Get your money back. Chalk this up to a learning experience. And please bail out before it gets worse. |

Re: Being jerked around by Patricks
Mr. Wolffcub, I am sorry to hear of your experiences, in today's competitive retail environment there is absolutely no excuse for poor customer service. You sir, have shown much more patience than I would have tolerated. Before 8 wks were up I would have canceled my whole order whether I needed the parts after the first missed promise.
Your experiences and well as the other replies to this thread have at least convinced me not to patronize this business. Hope things work out for you. |
Re: Being jerked around by Patricks
Well all can say is Patrick's ears must be burning. The brown truck showed up today with all the stuff we had ordered from Patrick's. All good looking stuff, hope it works as good as it looks.
|
Re: Being jerked around by Patricks
Went online to gather the exact original transaction date and time so i could call my visa a cancel my visa payment. I noticed that yesterday afternoon there was a new charge from him for $83. I'm going to have to call him now but I am guessing its for the shipping costs as he probably sent it out yesterday............finally!!!
I bet you its still wrong anyways as I cancelled the camshaft from the order numerous times directly with him on the phone and i still see no refund for the $150. Bet you it will arrive with it in the box with the other parts, so now Im paying shipping on that weight and size. |
Re: Being jerked around by Patricks
Glad to hear that you may finally get your parts, however, nothing has happened until the brown truck pull up and you have the box of exact, unblemished stuff you paid for. Good customer service would have also included a return phone call with a tracking # and apology.

Re: Being jerked around by Patricks
Well, I opened up the stuff they sent, and discovered that the water pump was wrong(later model pump). I called and talked to Phillip, and he said he had the correct pump on the shelf and he said he'd send it out on the way home from work. We'll see.
|
Re: Being jerked around by Patricks
just like the camshaft he said he had in his hand back in May?
|
Brothers took over two months to get me a bunch of front suspension stuff. Basically burned up a bunch of the time I had to help my son get his truck moving along in the spring. We did get everything but it did take a while and estimates I was given were not accurate. Now we are traveling and I am super busy at work so hopefully we will find time to get it all together this summer at some point.

Still waiting on the bee hive oil filter housing and bracket, also, although the oil lines were in one of the boxes. |
Re: Being jerked around by Patricks
HOLY CARP! Talked to Phillip at about 2pm on Wed the 15th. Checked my mailbox on the way home yesterday, on Thurs, the 16th, and there was my water pump from Patrick's.
Now that's the way customer service ought to be...24 hours, Arizona to Arkansas. |
Re: Being jerked around by Patricks
I get the stories of waiting and know that businesses sometimes "get behind the eight ball". I thought it only fair to share my positive experience. It has been a few years back but I found a new set of Patrick's 3.55 gears on ebay at a substantial savings. Right up to the point that they were for a car and not a truck like I needed. Patrick's exchanged them for me and even covered shipping of the new gears to me stating the car kit had slightly more expensive bearings. Neither kit had the shims and pin for the torque tube so they sent that to me. I told them I felt like I owed them for those parts at the very least. They told me what those parts sold for and that I could pay if I wanted but was not obligated to. They went above and beyond to take care of me. Customer service was unbeatable...
That being said, I have heard the stories about how they have got behind with some of their vendors and how at times parts were not being sent to them until their account was settled. I believe that is most likely the root of the horror stories. (not that they don't want to take care of business as it should be, just that they are juggling behind the scenes) I know other vendors have jumped to take advantage of the "exposed jugular" and had competing parts made offshore to sell at a lower price. Sometimes good people are not so good at business. I think the intentions are good, it is just that there is probably a lot of paddling behind the scenes. Glad your order worked out. I wish for both you and Patrick's that it was a more positive experience from start to finish. I bet that if you have issues with any of the parts, he will be quicker to try and resolve the issue than some of the copy vendors would be. |
Re: Being jerked around by Patricks
Finlay got my items in today. Only took 74 days! Lifters were all nicely rolling around loose in a small box and 2 look to have nasty nicks in the bottom area and the sides. The camshaft was not shipped and that's good but still to date see no credit for it back on my visa.
