The nicest shortbox I've ever seen...
4 Attachment(s)
Found this in my "research" pile back when I was still looking for a truck. Don't know if it belongs to anyone here, but it's very nice. The color is similar to but a little darker than my 508, but could be for all I know. Says it's 523, which is likely a two tone (but not 592).

Re: The nicest shortbox I've ever seen...
Very nice!! Another really nice truck with the "super" emblem in the wrong spot.
|
Re: The nicest shortbox I've ever seen...
That is really nice. One of the best looking trucks I have seen.

Re: The nicest shortbox I've ever seen...

Re: The nicest shortbox I've ever seen...
I'm not a short bed or 1/2 ton type of guy, but that's a pretty nice truck.
Is the way the roof painted the way they did it just in 67 and 68? |

Such a nice truck!
I'm not trying to pick on this truck,... But for the Cheyenne Super experts,... What all is incorrect about this truck? Trying to improve my Cheyenne Super knowledge. Should it have the upper side mouldings? Windshield and back glass trim? What else? |

That a sweet ride right there, awesome job.

Re: The nicest shortbox I've ever seen...
Just an interesting side note, according to the SPID, this truck did not have power steering or power brakes from the factory.

power steering or power brakes were not part of a Cheyenne or Cheyenne Super
|
Re: The nicest shortbox I've ever seen...
The two tone is 67/68 style.

Definitely not built to be Concours correct, they built what they wanted. I still like it though, and unlike most "other people's builds" I like the little liberties they took. Since it's drawn some attention, here are a couple of other photos: |
Re: The nicest shortbox I've ever seen...
Agree, nicely done. At least they finished their project.
|
Re: The nicest shortbox I've ever seen...
Beautiful truck for sure!!! I'm like 98% sure there was a thread on this same truck 4 or 5 years ago.

certainly is a very nice truck tastefully done. i like the way they did it.
that blue is a amazing color i'm loving that. as much as i like the wood grain it does give a odd contrast too the blue although not bad. i give it three thumbs up:lol: |
Re: The nicest shortbox I've ever seen...
There are too many nicest SWB Cheyenne Supers for me to nail a top 10 (or 100?) down.

Believe it or not that is the exact truck the guy I bought my truck from was using to model his/my truck after. He used the same color code just different interior. But the 402 looks the same, sort of. Also he thought the "A" pillar looked better white like stock. He showed me these exact pics of this show truck

Re: The nicest shortbox I've ever seen...
That color could make me reconsider my plan for deluxe Ochre and White (4 -tone). Not sure on the cab arms, but I'm pondering the same two-tone, only Custom Deluxe. Possibly the top moldings as well.
HDFF, is yours dropped the same? What is your drop? http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/a...1&d=1416791295 |

My SPID said mine came with the upper belt molding, it don't have it now and I wish it did. I have a 2/4 drop on springs. Also changed the shock relocation, shorter shocks and a ece super track bar |
Re: The nicest shortbox I've ever seen...
A set of top moldings just sold on Ebay for under $600. Here's a truck from this website. Not a White top, but between yours and his provides a clearer picture. http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/a...5&d=1327497030
I think I like the two tone blue better than the four. Upper and lower moldings too. Not that I've ruled out three tone (white/blue/white), but not quite right for a 71. |

One more of the color, sometimes to me it looks lighter that it really is. Why it is upside down I don't know

Re: The nicest shortbox I've ever seen...
Unfortunately, I don't have a single screw hole for moldings and bezels.... Worse yet, we probably won't drill until after paint. I may be wrong, but I don't believe it's a good idea to drill for the moldings until after the bushings have been replaced. So if we drill before paint, that means we're assembling the body twice.....................That said, that may not be a horrible idea for lining everything up, including fenders.......Sort of a rehearsal.
I pasted it on paint, flipped it over and save. Re-read my last post, I'm thinking OL. |

Those colors look real good on 67/68's too.

Re: The nicest shortbox I've ever seen...
Boy howdy they do already gone. Only thing I'd have done differently is a white bottom.

There's a nice video for installing the moldings onto a truck that never had them. The truck is assembled, but hasn't been painted. Quit honestly, I wouldn't mind assembling the body twice, once after new mounts and bushings, again after paint. Doesn't seem like an awful idea for lining EVERYTHING up. Of course I'm anal that way, have never done it, and I'd have to convince three others. The only difficult one might be the painter, but he might be up for it. We'll likely be handling the cab without a hoist (4 dudes). It's only about 400 pounds I hear.......stripped. Speak of the cab, I'm half tempted to purchase a flat bed trailer for it. I can buy an 8x15 right now for $1200, and it's super clean. Sure it's overkill, but a few minor additions I can mount it, tip the cab onto the firewall, drive it to the body guy's house....drive it to paint, bring it home.........Then I can sell the trailer for what I paid for it. Call me crazy, but it seems to be an ideal cab cart, especially for a cab that's going to be moved so often. |

It'd be nice to see the two blues parked next to each other; here's my 70 Dark Blue, which is a different color, in "faded lacquer" and "new clear". In person it looks more like the old picture, not sure if the green trees or sky skewed the color in the new pic.
