1967 C30 Napco 4x4 questions

1 Attachment(s)
I'm a newbie to the Napco conversions so any information is appreciated. Just found a 67 c30 Napco truck for sale not too far from me it's a 4 speed with 292 and power brakes has snowplow and dump bed still being used for winter. Has typical illinois rust but is solid. 4wd motor transmission are all good. Is there much desire for these? And how rare are they? Thank you for any guidance

They are rare I have only seen a few posted on here. I know where one is here in ontario but its pretty rotten. Its a neat truck but not somthing i would want to travel far in.

What kind of price are they wanting they are a pretty rare item. It is not something you might drive everyday, I think it is probably geared pretty low.

With that being said i would love to add a 4x4 to my list of trucks to build. I have 5or 6 to work on I haven't counted them lately. Jim

Check out the NAPCO forum, although you have to join to access the forum. Good picture gallery as well.

Super rare and desirable do not always go hand in hand. With a 292 and 5.13 gears it isn't a "driver" in any sense. Nor is it the ideal tow truck chassis the current seller was thinking. If you want a pet or an around the ranch GP dump and plow then have at it.

This truck has been for sale for years off and on. Like Crewcab59 said, right at a year ago was the last time I looked into it for someone.

Are you considering flipping it? If it's for you, the only question should be is do you have much desire for it? I love it. It's cream of the crop material in my book. I wanted to buy that last year (fall '14) when it was on Craigslist.

Way to go! I'm happy for you :whine:

Let me be the first to say, "If and when you should decide to sell this truck, I would appreciate it if you would please offer it to me first". I know, damn claim jumpers. Just had to make that official. I already know the reply, "Not sure you'll live that long, K" :waah:

the kid an i tried planing out the trip out there when this truck was first posted. neither of us are that adventureous to do it.

i saved the pick and used it as my background for a few months.

i wander how many of these napcos were built in 67....in other words there "could be a chance to find one closer to home":smoke:

that is one serious truck i'm glad the new owner is a member here to share it with us.

it seems in the past few years as these trucks have exploded in popularity the napcos are really being found and scooped up just glad they are being saved.

pretty sure i saw a early one on cl a few months ago with a swivel frame i think in az.

there is still a 58-9 in a shed just behind my house that hasnt been out in about 3 years.

I tried yesterday as well to buy this trick...This guy was a super jerk..You must have called at a better time..I asked several questions he did not have answers for..He insisted several times that he would not do anything for free and that he was so geographic challenged that he did not know where Minneapolis,MN was..Good luck with the truck...

I will say our conversation started off rough but he has turned out super nice , Sent any pic I ask for and cut me a heck of a deal. I think everyone is sick of jerks and scams on cl that they are on edge. I'm getting the same way, you have to put up with 5 jerks to get 1 serious person.

Re: 1967 C30 Napco 4x4 questions

Ok.This deal does not make any sense..When I called him yesterday, all we talked about was how to get him paid..Never asked for a lower price,How do I get you $2500..He does not do paypal, cannot do credit card over the phone, not willing to do wire transfer, refused postal money order or personal check..Cash in hand and not from a transport driver.....If he sold it for less,he is an Idiot...

Re: 1967 C30 Napco 4x4 questions

I am sad to say it did not work out. We had a gentlemens agreement and I asked him for his "word " since it would be a day , even offered to pay in full sight unseen. He reassured me it was a deal, I had his word... Talked again this morning , seemed like a stand up guy, deal was done. Get a call at 5 and he was selling it to someone who called. I am sick!!

doo142 01-14-2016 07:24 PM

Re: 1967 C30 Napco 4x4 questions

I have to say he fooled me. I would normally never mentioned it until I had it but I was comfortable with his "word". Where I come from a man is only as good as his word. Think that says a lot here!!

68panelman 01-14-2016 07:29 PM

Re: 1967 C30 Napco 4x4 questions

I too am sad. Was very happy it was going to a member here. It really sucks when your willing to give asking price, and the owner is difficult from the get-go, then sells it to someone else?, NOT A MANS MAN if you ask me!!!. Sounds like the exact fallen deal I had on a 67 GMC K2500 panel truck. Now I'm pissed off again!!! Sorry man.

Re: 1967 C30 Napco 4x4 questions

I wonder if the next person who thinks they are getting that truck is one of the people that he previously stiffed, and is now going back to honor the deal? Either way, this guy is an SOB for the way he is handling his business.

Re: 1967 C30 Napco 4x4 questions

That's one of the reason this truck was never sold last year !

No mater what his excuse is he clearly indicated I had his "word on it".i could have been there had I know he was a coward. All indications are it was a board member who had failed to communicate or follow thru their first chance, But seen it was possible. With the luck that this man has no morals they were able to undermine my deal. In the end life is good , it was only a truck. I live to hunt another day!!

Re: 1967 C30 Napco 4x4 questions

I'd call him back and offer an extra $500-$1,000.00 to see if it would get the deal done ,I'd be willing to bet that's what happened to your deal ,You got out bid by someone close waving $100 bills in his face . I would have paid $5,000.00 for it .:chevy:But I REALLY want one .:smoke:

special-K 01-16-2016 09:00 PM

Re: 1967 C30 Napco 4x4 questions

Screw him. Don't fall for a crook's game. You don't offer more than asking price and when you strike a verbal deal with an honest person the deal is done. If the guy wanted $5,000 he should have asked $5,000. That saying a man is only as good as his word rings true. Obviously this guy is no good.

Not for sale sorry guys but I might need some parts. Thinking about a longhorn bed?????

Re: 1967 C30 Napco 4x4 questions

I met a guy a couple years ago that had/has a 3/4 ton longhorn. The bed was in great shape but i didn't buy it. I could do a drive by tom and see if it is still in his back yard for ya. he is only about 15 min from me. he has all kinds of truck stuff pretty cool but a little proud of his stuff. if i remember right he wanted 1000.00 bucs witch i thought was a great price for a great bed

I hope that's a joke ? Your kidding right ? Doing anything other than restoring it to original condition would be sacrilege ! a 4x4 longhorn with 516's ? plan on hauling anything faster than 45 mph ?:chevy:
