Clyde's '65 BBW "Bonnie"
Ok so I had started a build thread for this truck but some things have changed and wanted to start over on my personal account. So here we go again
I picked up this '65 a little over a month ago. She started out her life as a Doran Chevrolet service truck. She's got a 283 that's seems fairly strong. I will run it for now until I get to that stage. Eventually she will be bagged with the works but for now. Its going to be static drop with big brakes, rims, new wiring, etc http://i1367.photobucket.com/albums/...s8tpsaxho.jpeg |

Re: Clyde's '65 BBW "Bonnie"
Also knocked down some surface rust and got a nice patina look. I plan on painting her down the road but for now this will have to do
http://i1367.photobucket.com/albums/...ps9vbrhusi.jpg I also have a full time "helper" it will be his truck one day http://i1367.photobucket.com/albums/...psvlz8euyk.jpg http://i1367.photobucket.com/albums/...psksn8ayf4.jpg |
Re: Clyde's '65 BBW "Bonnie"
replaced the ball joints and got the hotchkis springs installed it's a 4/6 drop with 2" cpp drop spindles. Also rebuilt the rearend a bit and installed the new axles. Started on the brakes too

Re: Clyde's '65 BBW "Bonnie"
I have the rims but I'm still have to get tires but not sure what route I want to go yet. Went with 17x8 in the front and 17x9 in the rear

Nice truck! Digging the patina:metal:

Re: Clyde's '65 BBW "Bonnie"
What did you use to get rid of the spray paint?
I've got a patch of black spray paint on my rear fender that I would like to see gone. |

Re: Clyde's '65 BBW "Bonnie"
Started on running the new ebrake lines but needed to do some research on the final steps so I moved on to replacing my harness. Now I'm debating on restoring my cluster

Re: Clyde's '65 BBW "Bonnie"
Haven't had too much time to work on the truck but with a hour here and there I've managed to get some more electrical done. Removed the power booster someone converted the truck to. they kinda hacked up the firewall a bit. I'll have to fix that down the road when it gets body worked and painted. http://i1367.photobucket.com/albums/...psfjs5knb8.jpg

Re: Clyde's '65 BBW "Bonnie"
Not much to update with lately. Been too busy to work on the truck. Managed to start playing with the new master though

I came across a intake and carb for cheap so I decided the engine could use a make over

Nice parts and wheels. Like where this one is headed...
|
Re: Clyde's '65 BBW "Bonnie"
.
. Wheel and brake set-up looks great! With that outstanding natural patina, I certainly wouldn't paint it though. They only wear their original paint once. That is years and years of real character proudly displayed. Looking forward to following along. . . |
Re: Clyde's '65 BBW "Bonnie"
Thanks everyone! No real progress lately. Just waiting on some material to come in so I can run new brake lines. Also have been waiting to hear back on a 400 sbc

Re: Clyde's '65 BBW "Bonnie"
Looking great. Nice build

Re: Clyde's '65 BBW "Bonnie"
Was able to get some work done this weekend. Intake and carb are back on.
Bench bled the master, all the brake lines installed, and bled the entire system. The engine bay still needs a lot of work but it will do for now http://i1367.photobucket.com/albums/...psznbe9m7l.jpg http://i1367.photobucket.com/albums/...ps2dogumin.jpg |
Re: Clyde's '65 BBW "Bonnie"
Master Cyl looks great. That's the one I just received. I'm excited to install it :). Did your prop valve have 3 output ports? Looks like two front, 1 rear? Guess we don't have to do a splitter for the fronts of that's the case.
