This just popped up on local CL...

Does anyone know what it is? Thinking it would make a fun project!

Id say by the look of that tow bar up front that its lived some of its life as a military dump truck

I can't answer your question but I know exactly how you feel.... I just ended up with my first vintage truck for exactly the same reason.

Seller said it was from a government agency sale in the ad. I reached out to him, but have not heard back yet.

It's a '70 or a little newer 7500 Model with All-Wheel Drive and a GVW of 34,000.

Would love to know what it has for an Engine and Trans.

BTW, you want it because it's "Cool".

Add says V6 gas, 401?

Re: What is it, and why do I want to but it!?

VIN says V6, too. Looks like a Coleman conversion. Let me know what happens with this. If you don't buy it let me have a crack at it. I could use that up on the farm. I tried to find it and gave up. Could you post a link?

The axle has to be were it is to work with the overall original drivetrain location, since it's an add-on.

7500 with a V-6, Coleman 4X4 conversion. Coleman used those large front hubs with de-mountable rims.

Id bet it is the 478 v6 gas what a great engine platform. no mileage all torque

Re: What is it, and why do I want to but it!?

I really hope the seller contacts one of you interested members, it would be a shame for this truck to get sidelined to the scraper.

I never did check the mileage (as a company truck, I wasn't paying the gas bill, lol), but the best I can figure, my '62 478 was getting about 7 to 9 MPG.

In comparison, my '66 305 V-6 would get 15 1/2 Hi-way, after a super tune. I also had a straight-thru muffler on it to help.

My 478 had Straight-Thru Duals, lol.

I did not find anything out. I emailed several times, even drove by the address listed. The picture was definitely not taken at the address listed. Still a mystery...

Re: What is it, and why do I want to but it!?

Well hopefully someone is going to put it to use and not scrap it, real cool rig thanks for uploading the pictures of it. From what I could find, that's a 7500 series truck with air brakes and was ordered with a V6 gas engine, couldn't find out what year. It's gotta be a '70 or newer like Bill says. All the books I have are from 1969 and earlier. Depending on the year it could have had a 351, 379, 401, 432, or a 478 engine.
