Factory Two Tones ONLY (with NO white)!!
 

Thought I'd start a thread - and I hope it hasn't been done already... My favorite factory paint jobs tend to be the conventional two tones without white. So, thought this would be a good subj for a picture reference thread. I know many of you have some great examples of these, so please post em up - I'll start with a few of my favorites EVER, and go from there. Please post the actual color combo along with the RPO number if at all possible. Below, in order (RPO/Top Color/Body Color):
1) 556 Dark Olive/Medium Olive (Pretty much my favorite, ever).
2) 556 Dark Olive/Medium Olive (yes, another, I told you it was my favorite... ALMOST bought this one here in Dallas last year... )
3) 557 Medium Olive/Dark Olive
4) 558 Dark Blue/Medium Blue (courtesy SSTim! - another one of my favorite trucks)
5) 565 Black/Red Orange

Ok, now it's your turn! SSTim, ya gotta post "our" favorite 565 Cheyenne Super Custom Camper, I can't find the pic... Greg, ya gotta post some of your great 556 Highlander! Let's see em!

One thing I've NEVER seen, and always thought would look awesome: 72 K20 black top with ochre body. And cab lights, of course. Not offered as a factory combo, but always wondered if anyone ever ordered that as a special order paint combo. Hmm. Make mine a Cheyenne Super Custom Camper while you're at it....

Love this idea jocko. I'd post a picture of my K/20 buts it's not sporting it's original 557.... Yet any way. One day it will. Love to see the seemingly much less common paint options! I really like the 558 combo too.

Mine is the even rarer opposite version of 558. Paint code 559.

Custom Two-Tones are great looking trucks and of them IMHO the dark over light are the most striking.

So to add to the fun here are a couple of pictures.

A 70 paint information sales bulletin showing some of the combinations used 70-72.

The camper is from a brochure and shows the 504 Medium Olive/520 Yellow combination that was, as far as I know, cancelled prior to production

When I first got my truck, I thought somebody painted my truck wrong since I'd never seen one a green one with a dark roof before.

FWIW, I've never seen a non-white 2-tone pickup built in Canada. Any of these serve as counter-examples?

Sometimes in the Canadian plants they simplified production - like the grill divider on a 70 Chevelle is body color in the US but always black in Canada. I wonder if they just said "No prepping for fancy two-tone paints" in Canada?

Very nice look. I have 15" 215's now and need new tires so been looking at many pictures. I have to investigate if I can increase to 16's. Thanks so much for sending details and closeup pic. It really helps!

Here is the spid. It is definetly a canadian truck made in Oshawa. Only Canadian trucks have the serial #'s printed this way as well.

Does anyone have any good interior shots of the 558 combo? Im seriously thinking thats what colors im going to paint mine instead of med blue and white.

The interior appearance really doesn't change. On a 558 the primary body color is still 510 Medium Blue. The existing white would be replaced by 523 Dark Blue at the same break points.

I snapped a pic of this one from the road the other day. I like this combo a lot! Is medium olive on the bottom below the lower molding.

The only way I know that would have been factory is as a Special Paint truck. It was probably built as a 556 Custom Two-Tone (med olive with a dark olive roof) and both upper and lower bodyside moldings, then somewhere along the way the sides were painted Dark Olive between the moldings.

I was at a local car show today and saw what looked like an ochre and brown or dark bronze c/20 in the deluxe two tone varient. when I went back to get a closer look it was gone. My wife snapped a picture of it on her camera so I'll post up a picture when she puts them on the puter.

Isn't that Pete's old truck? (EDIT: maybe not - I see the one you posted has camper mirrors, Pete's were below eyeline) I believe it remained in the family - and that pic was in NM I guess, could be. Pete?? Is yours still in NM or is it still up in MT?

Factory did not do that combo, it's usually added by an owner somewhere along the way.

I had never seen Petes old truck, only seen it referenced in his signature. This one however is a C/20 not a K/10.
