Re: Check Out This Hagerty Ad
But you could.

Re: Check Out This Hagerty Ad

Re: Check Out This Hagerty Ad
They covered my 69 K5 with antique insurance last week. I tried a few years ago but it didn't't go through. Since then I've made some imorovements. I was paying $480 a year for liability' now I pay $162 a year.

Re: Check Out This Hagerty Ad
Nice!
There's two types of people in the world, Those that own trucks, and those that borrow trucks. Mind blown, right? :hm: |
Re: Check Out This Hagerty Ad
Now quit leaning on it. You might scratch the paint with the buttons on your sleeve cuffs, lol!

I remember the movie Contact in which Jodie Foster drove her long-dead Dad's Impala, which was mint, but she treated it like crap. No way that car lives 30 years like that! I mean everything else about the movie was like a documentary, so why they got that detail wrong I don't know... Love Hagerty, but in WA state I can't add modern high end vehicles like a Corvette Z07 to my policy because I have teen drivers in the house. I guess in my state you can't exclude them from the coverage, so Hagerty won't write it. In some other states they will. |

When I signed up you had to be 25 and older. A couple years ago they changed it to a minimum of 5 years driving experience (so you could be 22-ish), and now they've changed it to the statement below: https://www.hagerty.com/Insurance/Fr...sked-Questions Quote:

Re: Check Out This Hagerty Ad
just insured my '70 K5 with Hagerty.......$500/year.....does that seem to be the going rate for full coverage valued at 25K?
|
Re: Check Out This Hagerty Ad
There's a lot of factors for price, your state, age, driving record, vehicle repair costs, etc. Being a 4x4 you may be considered high risk for damage/rollovers at a 4x4 club meet? Just thinking out loud.
I have my 65 Mustang insured for 25K and I just renewed mine, it was around $253/yr. |

Re: Check Out This Hagerty Ad
I find it funny they show a truck and then at the bottom state for 'car guys'

I thought the same thing when I saw the flyer included in my policy last week of that guy leaning all up on that truck! I'd just use my daily driver and my trailer to move my friends! |
Re: Check Out This Hagerty Ad
My brother in law is a great guy, but has zero interest in old cars or trucks.
About a year ago he asked me if he could borrow my SLAMMED, still fresh from the paint booth, SWB to move some furniture. I definitely did not build it for that!!! I explained to him that I didn't think that would be a good idea, and he thought I was being too overprotective of it. "It's just an old truck"........He has no clue how much effort goes into a build like that. Thank goodness for U-Haul. |
Re: Check Out This Hagerty Ad
Its a nice truck in the ad....but.....I can't imagine not using my truck to not help a friend out....that's a bit into sissy territory for me...lol.
On the other hand, I've never been a mirror finish and line perfection kind'a guy in terms of classic trucks so clearly I wouldn't get too up in arms about putting a couch or table in the back to help out. (...isn't that what a cargo mat is for?...) As nice as I think mine is...it has the odd scratch and is unlikely to ever win an award. All Good Coley |

The only thing I'm going to be hauling are babies, and only in cloth diapers, and only if they're had their fingernails trimmed.
My truck was a truck for 40+ years, it's earned its retirement. "Yes, this is my truck. No, I will not help you move." As for being a good friend... Did your car break down at 3AM on the freeway? Give me a call. Need to move? That's for U-Haul. (Hey, it rhymes!) |

Re: Check Out This Hagerty Ad
If I can't use it, it's worthless to me.

Re: Check Out This Hagerty Ad
Tough call.
I have real good friends who helped me move all of my stuff a few times,,,, Maybe I would drag it if they rented a trailer,,, |

But, I understand the idea of using it, everybody has to make their own choice about it. |

I built the Red/White '71 4x4 that way and Gary, the guy that helped me paint it complained because I was getting too many rock chips in the paint. I drove it everywhere. I drove it 500 miles 'round trip to Kansas City to the All Truck Nationals, won third place in my class and sold it. I had it less than two months after I finished it. It was way too nice for me to own...:( I have all of my oldies insured through my regular insurance company, American Family Insurance. LockDoc |
Re: Check Out This Hagerty Ad
Wow! I'm amazed at all the discussion this has generated. I originally posted it because I think it's cool that they are recognizing our trucks as worthy classics.
I'm in the mode of "I'm retired and so is my truck." Too bad it could be rebuilt to new, and I can't!!! |
Re: Check Out This Hagerty Ad
 yes, I thought it was just for the picture too! I've seen that same dude/truck on the hagerty ads that play during barrett jackson. it IS a nice truck!
