72 K20 Survivor

4 Attachment(s)
I purchased this 72 K20 from a farmer in Colorado. It was used solely on a farm and driven occasionally to the lake. Its a numbers matching survivor that was repainted and had the bed redone before the farmer passed. I purchased it from his son and spent the last 6 months bringing it back to mostly original. It has 88K original miles (verified by the seller) and no rust.

Good looking rig! Any plans as far as upgrades or are you staying with the stock driveline. Looks like you have a plan for the hvac. Pics of the spid?

Re: 72 K20 Survivor

I have more pics to post. I finished it about 2 weeks ago and kept the original drivetrain. I'm a fan of originality. As most of you would probably agree, these projects are a labor of love. I look forward to tweaking on this thing every chance I get.

These are original tanks that I found locally. A guy here has a huge garage full of parts. He pulled them off a junker and had them for sale. My truck originally had saddle tanks made by "Travel Tanks" but they were removed and tossed when the truck was repainted. The control valve and the gauge switch were still there so I made them functional again. I put floats in the tanks and connected them to the switch on the dash. I have a total capacity of 52 gallons including the factory tank. I moved the filler necks to the wheel wells so that I would not have to cut the side of the bed out.

Thanks Jim. The travel tanks were installed in mine originally but as I was saying before, they got tossed at some point. I was fortunate enough to find these babies at a guys shop. They are factory originals and fit the truck perfectly. Here are a few pics of the tank and the original set up. Note the 3 position switch on the left side of the dash cluster and the original crossover valve plate from the floor next to the seat.

Re: 72 K20 Survivor

thanks, those are a good fit. Shame a po tossed the travel tanks - what did you do to move the filler neck? cut/fill/reposition? Good choice, I'm not a fan of the aux doors either. I've got a set of wheelwell tanks I'm waiting to refurbish for someday.
