How Stella got her groove back

Previous thread which shows all of n2billet's hard work and creativity.....
http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s...ght=stella+mae

I have an LS1/4l60e in transit that will put new life into her.
Also adding:
Dakota Digital HDX gauges
Vintage Air
Power brakes
New Seat

It will be a month or so before we get started but I'll try to get some progress pics as we go. I can't wait to be able to fly down the highway in this truck!

Will be a nice upgrade.

I have really liked this truck since Keith did it.

Sounds like good upgrades, so I will be tuning in for your changes.

Motor and trans showed up today. Looks like we'll get started in about 3 weeks. Still waiting on gauges, motor mounts and CPU.

I have a tilt column that needs work, Kevs Classics is the way to go there, right?

Re: How Stella got her groove back

Definitely use KevsClassics.
He did two for me.
Super nice high quality work!

Thanks! That's what I thought but wanted to double check before setting it up.

Very nice upgrades though the old motor sure looked just as pretty since there aren't many left alone anymore. Looking forward to updates

Malamute 10-02-2016 01:10 PM

Re: How Stella got her groove back

The old motor is in very nice shape, it just doesn't have the performance I'm looking for unfortunately. It will be a nice motor and trans for someone once it comes out.

Great to see this truck again. One of my favorites. I had planned to text Keith this week to find out where Stella Mae now resides. Can't wait to see the transplant take place. 👍

that truck is so clean. This will be a great upgrade for it.

Last time I saw it when Keith had it, it had a cool tank set up in the bed. Are you going to keep that and just use an external pump?

Malamute 10-14-2016 04:49 PM

Re: How Stella got her groove back

Yes, keeping the tank.

I see that manual shift crossmember in there and it makes me cringe... I've cut out a few of them and it BITES!

Nice work, keep it up. I love my a/c, though I rarely use it--sir thing about the truck makes me want to roll down the windows and hang my arm out

Thanks, I agree but it gets hot enough that I like having AC on those hot days.....as does my wife!

And just to be clear, a friend of mine is doing this work. I wish I could do work like that but I can't and even if I could it would take me 5 plus years to do it. He hopes to finish up around Christmas.

What accessory drive setup and radiator/fans are you using?

I went with everything that Boris recommended being as he's done a lot of these. Radiator is a Griffin with a Summit fan. Taylor picked up the acc drive through Rock Auto IIRC but I don't know the brand.

Headers and coils and the fuel system starting to get routed.
I need to make a decision on exhaust soon, not sure which mufflers to go with. Who's running what? Not looking for crazy loud idle but would be fine with some noise under throttle. Thanks.

Make SURE your gas tank is well vented. I ran a Wabro external pump with a Corvette fuel filter/regulator with a modified stock tank. My stock tanks vent caused a vacuum in the tank and caused running issues. Looking good!!

Thanks! Running a custom tank with no vent currently but yes, a vent is in the plans.
