Hi Chevy Fans, I'm a German ships engineer and will visit in September/ October the US. ( more south regions). It should be a low cost trip to come back to the basics. I would like to meet Chevy fans and just people, to visit the country but also typical yank yards regional chevy oldtimer events and so on. If you need help on your project and spend a bed ( for a day or two or just a beer 😂😎or I can help to howl heavy parts, can escort you on the road or whatever else it would be a great adventure.

I would be happy if you send me a private mail, depends on the reaction I will plan my trip from San Francisco to NY .

I admire your spirit of adventure Gherard! If you come as far south as Ft. Worth, Texas, you're welcome here. My wife and I were just talking this morning about possibly opening our home to guests, something like AirBnB. One of our sons has married and moved out so now there is a vacant room in the house. :mm:

If your going to be in the north east in October you need to see Carlisle and Hershey. May just buy a vehicle or two to take home

Excellent I come back during my fine planning phase. Im also interested on your trucks, spare part and maintenance shops let say will be one time in my life in an oreilly shop or like this, also chevy history / museum and last not least I would like to visit a real yank yard because I read allot of this but never seen in reality.
And for sure I will not have enough time to see all��

Dear all so now the first draft is created. I was not able to follow all hints and invitations but the most.
I would not be able to go the Wisconsin Octoberfest, but Deadhead maybe during the next trip, also the way to LocDoc would not be possible this time. Anyway thank you so much for your offer.

But as you can see try to meet chevyland in Napa for a boats trip:-) ,will met the guys in the houston area, go th Ft Worth to cornerstone, see the Green Bay Packers ( hopefully the win on the 6th of october, enjoy the swap meet in hershey and will trink a beer with 72c20 custom camper in New York

Don't forget to show me your chevys please!!!

Now I'm looking/ asking for accomodation. As the trip is called back to the roots i like to stay with friends or really cheap bedrooms. Maybe you have some hints for me.

Looking forward to see you all, maybe you are able to show me a typical american yankyard too, hope we have fun together and for sure will post here about the trip.

GerhardH I must admit, I'm a bit envious of you! I hope to be able to do this someday. It seems like it would be exciting to do what you are planning. Looking forward to meeting you! I'm about 2 hours from New Orleans. Mom is going back to Germany in a few weeks to visit family, and see the house she was born in, since I found out it is still standing. (It is now in Poland, but before 1945, it was the German state of Silesia) After they took the family land, her father's side moved around Leipzig, her mother's side scattered, most near Ludwigsburg, but some in Hannover

Sadly, my German is rusty. Mom made us learn it, but in the South, we were kind of shunned for speaking it, especially in the 80s when Hollywood started brainwashing everyone into believing all Germans were Nazis.

My America grandfather welcomed my mother with open arms, even though he fought in both the European and Pacific theaters in WWII (only 2 US divisions served in both theaters and only 1 saw combat in both)

The Midwest (Illinois, Iowa etc) has a large German population, and areas in S. Texas. There is the community of Roberts Cove in Louisiana, and the town of Helen Georgia, but those only places off the top of my head that I can think off.

Your grandfather and my uncle had to be in the same unit. He was an army engineer . They were told they were being shipped home but they made a side trip to the Pacific. He sent home all kinds of war memorabilia from both theaters. Has dress swords from both the Third Rhich and Empire of Japan.

Check. I will keep that date in mind - would be a lot of fun. I have vacation scheduled through Sept 2019 and expect to plan vacation for Oct 2019 through March 2020 in the upcoming few weeks. If you need tickets before I can commit to go I bet there are other locals who can step up but I endeavor to get that time.

You should consider coming through Mississippi on your route from New Orleans to Nashville.
Cruising the Coast is Oct 6-13 https://cruisinthecoast.com/ We plan to be there Oct 10-12 with the '55 Chevy gasser drag car and you would be welcomed to hang out with us.
The amount of vehicles that show up to ride along Hwy 90 is crazy. We usually find a good spot to set up for the day & grill out & watch all the cool cars go by.
