1970 SWB / Roadster Shop Fast Track Chassis
Just getting underway on a complete build. Super clean 1970 SWB bought out of Texas and shipped to Oregon as my platform. Plans are coming together with, Roadster Shop Fast Track Chassis set to be delivered in January. Planning on 1000 HP (Whipple) and a T56 Mag Trans.

How do you post photos on this forum? It asks for a URL?

Re: 1970 SWB / Roadster Shop Fast Track Chassis
When you go to post there's a button in there to manage attachments. There are size restrictions but that's how I do it.
We all love pictures! Sounds like a great project Dave |
Re: 1970 SWB / Roadster Shop Fast Track Chassis
This sounds like an interesting build, good luck from Portland.
The photos can be uploaded to this site, it's pretty cumbersome but works. I do that for my build thread because I don't want to share my photos with public links. The other option, if you have google photos of another cloud backup, is to share your photos with public links and embed the link in your posts. |

What's your goal with this build?

Re: 1970 SWB / Roadster Shop Fast Track Chassis
Skidmore Garage: This truck will be built to handle corners at high rate of speed with a low and aggressive stance. I usually put way more HP into my builds than is reasonable but that's what I like to do! The plan is still in development but it will be over the top for sure. Lot's of one off stuff.

Found a junk 6.0 which will be perfect for mocking up for the LS3 Build.

Re: 1970 SWB / Roadster Shop Fast Track Chassis
Awesome! I appreciate the little updates. I've been neglecting my build thread, and feel a bit guilty. Other people's build updates remind me to get my pictures up.

Re: 1970 SWB / Roadster Shop Fast Track Chassis
Im down in Junction City, about an hour and a half south or so.
I work at Metalworks in Eugene. I do a lot of Art Morrison chassis's with the GM Performance engines. The LSA is pretty awesome. I have not done any Roadster shop chassis yet but we are a dealer for them. It does change the whole dynamic of the truck when you put these modern chassis under them. 550 hp out of the box is pretty healthy. Have fun with it, Tom |

Joining in to watch for future updates. I love these chassis' & wish my budget would allow for the option.

Re: 1970 SWB / Roadster Shop Fast Track Chassis
Such a nice foundation. That & the updated drivetrain will have you wanting to drive it full time.

Re: 1970 SWB / Roadster Shop Fast Track Chassis
Nice, seems a shame to cover it up with a body!
|
Re: 1970 SWB / Roadster Shop Fast Track Chassis
Goodness! That's amazing.

Re: 1970 SWB / Roadster Shop Fast Track Chassis
That is something. You will need a big mirror to carry around so you can slide it under the truck and show it off :)

Re: 1970 SWB / Roadster Shop Fast Track Chassis
So just out of curiosity, what’s the old chassis going in? It looked like it was in really good shape.

Mock up wheels under (37" top of bed rails) and started building the new bed floor.

Re: 1970 SWB / Roadster Shop Fast Track Chassis
This will definitely be an incredible build once its finished up and far beyond anything I could do..
But, I noticed one thing. Just wanted to bring it to your attention incase maybe it could cause an issue later on. Correct me if I'm wrong or maybe its intentional (?) Looking at the side of the truck, the bedside body line is lower than the cab. In mockup of the new bed floor, are you building the cross sills as it sits in the pictures or will that change later on? I just wanted to mention it, not to point out an issue with your build but to save you added work incase you hadnt noticed (?) Beautiful truck man. I'll be watching this one for sure. |
Re: 1970 SWB / Roadster Shop Fast Track Chassis
In the photo the bed is off the shim packs and only roughly in line. My plan is to build the mounts with shims under them so I can fine tune either way.
