show those engines

My truck, as many are, is sleeping throughout the winter months but never forgotten. Today I put a cleaner to the engine and compartment, and I thought I'd start a post to show all those motors and how spiffy they look. So let's see your engines and engine compartments.

Re: show those engines

All I have Is the day I got it shot. In truth I have spent far more on this engine than I have on any engine I have ever owned in my life and the engine was given to me. I just hope I can run it by the nursing home and rap the pipes while my buddy is still alive to hear it.

When he gave it to me after calling to say that he had something for me that I needed. He is in the nursing home with dementia so getting this running is important right now.

I do have this intake that is about like a tunnel ram for a six banger.

I picked up a 5.3L out of a 2008 GMC Sierra 4x4 from the salvage yard for the '57. Had it gone through, removed the DOD, new cam / lifters. Adding FiTech Injection and a new 4L-65. Should be quite peppy.

Should be transplanted shortly.

Looking for a picture to put in this thread made me realize I don't have an engine picture since the truck has been done with the hood on, etc.

Oh well. Here's what I've got for the moment:

Yikes! Sounds like cubic dollars going into this engine.

We're all going to want to see the assembled engine and of course the truck it goes into - especially if you put that much effort into the chassis and body & paint.

This is a once in a lifetime thing for me. I bought this truck in 1980 when I got out of the Navy in SoCal. Chassis will be boxed and braced. 8.50 cage. Wilwood 12.88 disk 6/4 Nickle plated calipers. Secondary remote drag radiator w/electric pump, Primary radiator w/mech pump and electric fan. Electric P/S. Electric A/C w/remote condenser. Electric vacuum pump (brakes}. Mcleod RXT duel disk clutch. Mcleod hydraulic Throw out bearing. I have 128 available gear ratios for my rear end with my current 4;11 R/P that I can change in 10 minutes from 2:34 to 8:56. Gleason Torson diff. Bicknell torque arm. Pan hard bar on leaf springs. Front axle custom high strength tube 4" drop by Superbell on leaf springs. Dakota HDX gauges. Body Firethorn Red Pearl, fenders will be black. Rear fenders will be widened 2". Not a big fan of tubbing. Better stop now already too long. Thank you for your time.

Re: show those engines

I know one thing, my 292 is getting gray paint to go along with all the finned aluminum. Jemenzcrusher's 235 solidified that plan.

The idea has always been for the unknowing eye to think it is a fully decorated older six.

You're "throwing the book at her" lol. Can't wait to see the end result. I'd never do what you're doing but I also said I'd never do what I ended up doing to mine. I told myself I was building my post-retirement daily driver and it'd be cool and reliable (LIAR!) Oh it's cool and it's reliable but it's waay overbuilt to be a daily. But I admit I love fender-fondling her! Enjoy yours - we will from afar.
