It’s fairly easy to make one I used a Toyota 4Runner cup holder and an old ashtray..

Re: cup holder
.
I’ve got the ashtray cup holders. Mine are too shallow. The cup only dips down into the holder an inch or inch and a half…this causes the cup to tip easily…way too easily. Never use them. -Kevin |

Any pics of this with a cup in it? Will the cup/can stay sturdy in it on the road? Looks like a good idea if the drinks won't spill |

Re: cup holder
On my 72 the P.O. left one of those Plug & Chug types in the truck (https://www.cjponyparts.com/classic-...1924&year=1973), can't believe they cost this much
I just mounted it so the part that would plug into ashtray was centered under front seat just exposing the cup holder part using 2 sheet metal bolts into seat frame. It was easy to access and out of the way |
Re: cup holder
RichardJ it looks like you used a ford face on this cup holder?

Re: cup holder
The AC controller is from a Lincoln Mark VII, but not the cup holder.

Re: cup holder
Old Air Products used to carry one like the Toyota one. I have it in my truck and it works great with the original ashtray faceplate on it.

Re: cup holder
My son is currently making a bracket to adapt the Toyota cup holder so it will attach to the factroy ash tray bracket. I will let you guys know how it goes.

Re: cup holder
I found Toyota PN 55620 35050
Prices are all over the place but this one on Amazon has good reviews and is cheap.. https://www.amazon.com/APPERFiT-Comp...dp/B09XXCP5CM/ Might try this out and see how it works. |
Re: cup holder

Re: cup holder
I havent forgotten I have the bracket with me now and will be installing and taking photos tomorrow. He made the bracket to install in the origianl ash tray bracket without destroying it. So if you decide to go back to your ash tray you can. I am excited to get it installed so I can use it. I have a video he gave me of the cup holder sliding in and out of the bracket on my iPhone but I havent figured out o how to switch the Apple video to one I can upload here or I would have posted it today as well. I will be posting up pics tomorrow

Ok so we had a couple changes to the bracket so its not 100% but heres photos of everything. Ok he designed this so you can go back to your stock ash tray if you want. The only mod to the ash tray bracket is you have to straighten out the small flange at the back of the ash tray. The bracket will attach to the original ash tray bracket by one #8 screw so there will be one small hole you will have to drill. You will see where in the photos. The nut drops into a hex hole made for it in the cup holder bracket. I had to do some moving around of my stereo wires otherwise it went right in. The face plate will have to be removed from the ash tray by drilling out the two rivets. I did this by drilling away the rivet from inside the ash tray. The face plate will attach to an adpater that goes on to the cup holder. The adapter for the cup holder is what he is redesigning. If you have any questions as I am sure I left something out let me know. The photos show everything but the face plate adapter as hes working on it now and hopes to have it to me by Weds. Sorry I didnt get this up over the weekend as I said I would do. We were figuring out the changes that need made and I forgot to post.

Sorry guys I’m not getting notifications to my email on threads but yea it’s fairly simple to do as Harley has done it close to the same way I did. I used an old ashtray to cut up and mounted the Toyota cup holder to it. I still need to rivet the stop on top
