Power Brake Booster Adapter Bracket
5 Attachment(s)
Here is the latest version of the power brake booster adapter bracket that I've been making since 1993. This bracket is fabricated from laser cut 10ga mild steel and fits 1967-'72 Chevy and GMC Pickups, Suburbans and panels and is 100% bolt on using holes already in your firewall. The booster side of the bracket has a 3 3/8" x 3 1/2" hole pattern. Boosters with this pattern are commonly found on S10's and full size pickups, Suburbans, Blazers and Tahoes from 1988 to at least 1998. Of course you will have to join the booster pushrod to your stock MC pushrod that attaches to your brake pedal. This can be done by either threading both ends and using a coupling nut, or by just welding them together once you determine the correct length.
I have had the original version ('63-'66) of this bracket on my '66 Suburban and have driven over 120,000 miles with no issues. I have also installed these on a couple of local pickups with good results as well. If you are wanting to add hydroboost to your pickup, Suburban or Panel I also offer a mounting plate for the hydroboost HERE The price on the bare steel brackets is $59.50 plus a flat $16.25 shipping in the US. If you are located elsewhere contact me for shipping charges. You can also get this bracket in a satin black powder coat for an additional $9.00. Mounting hardware is included. This pricing is not current and up to date.To place an order post in this thread, send me a PM or send an email to captainfab454@hotmail.com, and I will give you the ordering and payment instructions and current lead time. THE '71-'72 FACTORY BRAKE BOOSTERS ARE NOT COMPATIBLE WITH ANY OF MY BOOSTER BRACKETS |

Re: Power Brake Booster Adapter Bracket
do you know if this bracket and the 88 to 98 booster set up will work on a 70 c10 with drums on all four
|
Re: Power Brake Booster Adapter Bracket
Yep, no problem. You just need a power brake master for a drum/drum system. The one I use on my Suburban is a power brake master for a '67-'70 truck.

Re: Power Brake Booster Adapter Bracket
i read on here somewhere that the factory man drum master would work
|
Re: Power Brake Booster Adapter Bracket
do know if that is so
|
Re: Power Brake Booster Adapter Bracket
I have not tried that. On the manual master cylinders, the bore in the backside of the piston is deeper than on a power master cylinder. So I suppose if you wanted to make a new pushrod to go between the booster and the master, it could be done. But I wouldn't mess with it. A rebuilt power master isn't that much $$

Re: Power Brake Booster Adapter Bracket
if I use your bracket on a '72 will a booster out of a '92 bolt right in or will I need to modify the rod that connects to the pedal. Do I just pm you to buy a bracket?
|
Re: Power Brake Booster Adapter Bracket
Since a '92 full sized truck booster falls within the '88-'98 range, yes it will bolt up. The pushrod will need to be lengthened to reach your pedal. Yes, just send me a PM to purchase.

Re: Power Brake Booster Adapter Bracket
Is this for trucks without a booster altogether? or are the newer boosters that much better than the one on my 72?
|
Re: Power Brake Booster Adapter Bracket
This bracket can be used with either the boosters listed, or you can use your existing booster. To use your existing booster you will need to elongate the booster mounting holes in the bracket slightly. I'm not sure if the newer boosters are necessarily better than the '67-'72 boosters, but the S10 dual diaphram boosters should help if you're low on engine vacuum. Plus the newer boosters are much easier to find in a wrecking yard if you can't afford a new booster. You can also convert to hydroboost very easily using this bracket and my hydroboost mounting plate.

Re: Power Brake Booster Adapter Bracket
Recent feedback shows that this brake booster bracket will not work with the column shift when using a vacuum booster. The hydroboost should work, but I have not confirmed that yet.

Re: Power Brake Booster Adapter Bracket
Hello Captain, it's me again, lol,
What source vehicles have the small 7" and 8" dual diaphram boosters that work with your adapter? Thanks |
Re: Power Brake Booster Adapter Bracket
I'm not aware of any OEM applications with 7 or 8" boosters that will work. You'll probably have to go with an aftermarket booster, and elongate the mounting holes slightly.
