Battery Cables USA
1 Attachment(s)
I just installed a pair of 2-gauge battery cables from Battery Cables USA. They were priced fairly, built to my specs (lengths and terminal types) and shipped quickly.
Very nice plated copper terminals, which I think is the proper term. Have to add that 2-gauge may be overkill, but my starter turns the engine over noticeably faster than with the old 4-gauge cables. You'd think the spark plugs were removed! |

Re: Battery Cables USA
That's good info, thanks! I take it from your description that there are various options for the type of terminals?

Re: Battery Cables USA
I would like to order some of those. What are the factory spec terminal sizes for the starter and engine bolt for the neg cable for a 67-72 truck?

Decide where you want to put the battery ground wire before specifying a length. I like to use one of the front bolt holes on the passenger side of the timing cover -- ones that were used for front motor mounts. They are 3/8. Also, be sure the frame and body are grounded to the block. External star washers can help make a better connection. Finally, a little longer is always better than having tension on the cable. You will want the starter cable to be routed and clamped somewhere at least a couple inches away form exhaust components. |
