I've had one for about 3 yrs now. Best detailing purchase I ever made. It is a well built machine that cuts cleaning, waxing, polishing time way down and the results are superior. You will not regret purchasing the Porter Cable 7424.

I purchased mine through Mequiars, but it is the same model. It is the best thing I ever purchased in the cleaning world. I can do a whole vehicle in a very short time. Great deal and worth it.

Where do you purchase your new pads, or how quickly do they wear out? I've never used an electric buffer.

Re: Anybody have a Porter cable 7424 ?
Just gonna update . This thing is great . I did my 2000 F250 PSD (white) with the blue no cut pad and just surf city garage barrier reef paste wax . With just paste wax and no cut pad it did not take very many scratches out or remove much of the spidering , but i have had 5 different people comment on how clean my truck is since i used the buffer and i keep my vehicles clean . I will work my way more agressive untill i get the desired results , but only want to go as harsh as needed to repair the minor problems . I spent a 4 hr morning on the mother in laws 90' olds cutlass (also white) that she bought new and has always been garage kept . I used the white light cut pad and some Meguiers #6 cleaner wax . This car needed some attention as i am probably the only one that works on it . She said it looked as good or better than when new . So far im pleased with the results and feel that between the difference the buffer has made on these two cars it was worth the money .

Re: Anybody have a Porter cable 7424 ?
I use my Porter cable as a finishing tool, only. I have a couple of electric buffers with large 9" pads that I do the removal of scratches with. I have big wool pad on one of them and I use 3M- polishing compound for the rough work. The other has a foam pad on it and I use it with a spray detailer to work out the swirl marks. The porter-cable is the final tool. I do not always use the larger buffers in the work on my vehicles.

Re: Anybody have a Porter cable 7424 ?
Well i had the trans am out the other day and was rubbing some wax into it as a sunday evening project . I was just finishing up when one of my daughters friends came over . She was saying how she wanted to wash her car someday . These girls are just turning 16 and getting there licieses and have never washed cars or been shown how to . I had everything out and was already working so i told them id help them do it . This is a craigslist car and it is beat . Prolly $800 tops her dad paid . Silver 93' accord 2 door . We washed it and dried it and rain-X ed the windows . I told her if they would take the wax off i would buff it out . I used the orange heavy cut with #7 cleaner wax .She was like look at the scratches go away . We did the whole car and AA'ed the tires . What a difference . Her dad even called me it was that noticable . Machine works really well . Now my daughters boy friend wants me to work on his truck .

Re: Anybody have a Porter cable 7424 ?
i have had one for several years. but i have had a good variable speed buffer for a couple decades. it is the work horse to remove oxidation and spider webs. but the porter works great for a final glaze and waxer. if you do a couple you could make a few bucks on the side.
